Downloaded albums won’t play when offline

My Question or Issue

I’m on the Premium plan and I have a bunch of albums and podcasts downloaded. But for some reason I can’t play a bunch of the albums that show up with the green icon as downloaded. Before I tried turning playback to offline, it said I should connect to the internet to listen to what should already be on my device. Now with playback offline switched on the albums still won’t play and it says “you’re in offline mode, go online and try again.” So they aren’t even downloaded to my device even though they were fine yesterday?

This could've happened because of the cache stored on your app. You can try going to Settings < Storage > Clear cache. However, if this happens again, it's best to perform a clean reinstall of the Spotify app by following these steps. No worries, you won't lose any content, but you will have to download your offline music again for that device. 

If nothing helps, could you send us a screenshot of how the downloaded playlist looks before and after turning the offline mode on?

I set my liked songs playlist to automatically download new content (and now can’t find this setting). I’m away from home and ALL my previously downloaded songs are now NOT downloaded. I have intermittent access to wifi to reinstall them, so basically I have no offline content. WHY did this happen? I started to re-download songs, played a few in the car, next time I went to the app the downloads disappeared again! Back to square one, nothing available offline. WHY is this happening? Why did my downloaded content revert to online only?
