Feedback Request: iOS Offline Issues

Feedback Request: iOS Offline Issues

Hello everyone! Spotify here.

We are looking into customer reports about issues with offlined playlists on iOS devices (music which is downloaded to your phone so you can play without an internet connection). Our investigation shows that some folks might have experienced some issues with this so we were hoping you could answer some questions to help us diagnose the problem.

1. Have you made a playlist available offline which you could not play without any internet connection?

2. Have you made a playlist available offline which constantly downloads when you start Spotify?

Thanks,
Team Spotify

We're now on version 3.0.0 of Spotify. Back when this thread was revived 2.6 was on its way to the App Store.

Any word on whether the offline sync issues have been fixed? If not, is it on the to-do list for the near future?

Things are still working fine for me (no need to resync for the past 2 months) since I turned off automatic updates but I'm just curious and wanting a status update.
"my mind is in my work, but my heart is on the dance floor."

Installed latest update this morning. Offline playlist started but stopped when I went to my newspaper app.

I have been trying to get my offline function to work again. It worked fine for weeks, but now won't play offline.  I notice where it says "GO ONLINE WITHIN..." no longer displays anything. It use to count down the 30 day time limit. I have done a clean install several times and reloaded all my songs. I'm using an iPhone 5 (all up to date).

Hi. for me previously downloaded music is suddenly shown as only available online. This really creates a problem when u r travelling a lot... I dont know how to solve this issue. My playlist wasnt published and it happened adter i added several new songs to my playlist. Even the "old" songs are now greyed out in offline mode...please help! Thx

Hi

I regualrly get issues with radio connectivity and often it just stops?

any word on if you'll have to uninstall/reinstall to get all of your offline music back if you update?

really hesitant about updating at this point, don't particularly want to have to sync music for hours

the answer to my previous question is that the issue still persists.

this is ridiculous.

I tried the reinstall option and resynced all my local music, but indeed the problem still persists. This is getting really annoying!

For those of you still following along at home, the syncing problem still has not been fixed in the newest updates.  I got a new iPhone and resynced everything, but forgot to change my settings so that it wouldn't automatically download new updates.  So now I am having to sync local files all over again.

I doubt any of the Spotify powers that be are listening, but it would be REALLY USEFUL if you gave detailed notes about each update instead of saying "herp derp we fixed some stuff" every time.  Every other app on my phone gives actual notes, so I'm not sure what the big deal is.

Y'all better be glad I'm too lazy to switch to another service....

Have newest iPhone 6S with most current IOS and am having issues with being unable to download to my offline available playlist. Any suggestions on how to get past "waiting to download "?

Not sure if this has been answered here. My offline music is downloading fine, however nothing shows up in the Offline Music tab under "Your Music". I have to go search for the albums I downloaded to play them. Kind of annoying when I should be able to see them under that tab. Using an IPhone 5s, latest OS and plenty of free space.

I am also having issues syncing offline playlists on my iPhone 5S. When selecting "Available Offline", the playlist looks like it starts to download, and a green arrow then shows up next to all the songs in the playlist. But, when i switch to Offline Mode, no songs will play. I have over 6GB of space, and am syncing the playlist over wifi, with a continuous connection for at least 8 hours. Running iOS 8.4 with the latest version of Spotify. One thing that is specific to my device is that it is a company phone, and has been configured to require a 4 digit passcode after a designated period of inactivity (I cannot set the auto-lock to "never"). Would this have anything to do with it? I have previously been able to download playlists to listen offline up until a few weeks ago.

When is this issue going to be solved??

I have same problem in Windows Phone, but my ios and android devices are ok

Same here. Can't download, endless "Waiting to download" message.

For a few weeks now. Apple Music is looking better and better....

Hi guys, if you are having issues with Windows Phone, please post over in the Windows Phone forum. There is an active thread with issues highlighted here for Windows Phone 8.1: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Other-Partners-Windows/Spotify-on-Windows-Phone-8-1-has-become...

It looks like the most recent updates MIGHT have fixed the offline syncing issues.  I downloaded 4.7.0 last night and started resyncing on my devices, then as a test downloaded 4.8.0 to see if the few songs that had synced would disappear.  It's only been a few minutes, but the fact that they still had the green arrow next to them when I reopened Spotify is promising!

Also, I'd had a problem with a few local files staying grayed out on my iphone and ipad, even though they were on a playlist marked for offline use.  Make sure those songs are actually in your local files on your computer--might have to go to whatever folder they're linked to on your computer's hard drive and change/delete and re-add a song or two to make sure everything goes to the right place.

Hopefully these fixes are legitimate.  This offline sync brouhaha was one of the main reasons I was considering switching to Apple Music, until I realized that Apple Music has syncing issues of its own.

If things mess up again, y'all will be the first to know.

"my mind is in my work, but my heart is on the dance floor."

Similar issues to other users.

I'm on iphone 5 with latest iOS, and sometimes downloaded albums show up as "empty" when offline.

To get them reappear I need to get online again, even just for a second.

It usually happens when I open the Spotify app when I'm already in the subway: it's like the app needs to connect to the servers before allowing me to access my downloaded music.

It's a bit frustrating to be honest, given that this is the #1 feature I'm paying Spotify for.

Same here, using iphone 5s with the latest IOS

Ehh, accidentally sent the previous comment before finishing it.

So once again: using iphone 5s with the latest iOS (9.2.1 at the moment), my downloaded songs are sometimes not available when the phone was being offline while Spotify app was started. If going online for a second so the app could communicate with the server, and then going offline, the songs will be available. But this is not always an option and it questions the sense in paying for a premium membership...

can not showing album covers when offline!!
pls fix the issue!!
