Feedback Request: iOS Offline Issues

Solved!

Feedback Request: iOS Offline Issues

Hello everyone! Spotify here.

We are looking into customer reports about issues with offlined playlists on iOS devices (music which is downloaded to your phone so you can play without an internet connection). Our investigation shows that some folks might have experienced some issues with this so we were hoping you could answer some questions to help us diagnose the problem.

1. Have you made a playlist available offline which you could not play without any internet connection?

2. Have you made a playlist available offline which constantly downloads when you start Spotify?

Thanks,
Team Spotify

Still having the same issue where my list of saved artists fails to load when I'm offline. I can workaround it by searching for the artist via the songs tab, but this is far from ideal! After this much time and releasing several updates, I find it incredibly poor and unimpressive that you still haven't managed to fix this and have shown such awful attempts at communication (I work in mobile apps, and would simply be embarassed providing this kind of customer service). The time has come for me to move on to another streaming service, as I have no confidence that you will actually fix this issue. I hope that others who are having issues like mine follow suit, then maybe you will pay attention to your remaining customers.

Hello,
I am a paying subscriber to spotify and have issues with playing playlists on my iphone whilst offline.  I have checked the below suggested remedies:

"If tracks or playlists aren't fully syncing, check:

  • The device is not in sleep mode.
  • There is enough free space to sync the songs (we recommend 1GB or more).
  • The device has an active Internet connection.
  • You haven't reached the limit of 3,333 songs per device"

My iphone is not in sleep mode, I have 30Gb available, My iphone is using its 4G Telstra connection and I have not reached the 3,333 limit.

When I click the available offline button of a playlist sometimes it reaches 7 songs downloaded (but no more), but other times it does nothing.  I have tried this in different areas, to ensure it is not related to my internet connection.

Please advise of a remedy asap, as I am a paying member this is unsatisfactory,
Thank you

Bree

My spotify crashes every time I try to bring up the playlist tab on my phone.  I can play saved albums but if I hit the playlist tab it crashes the app on my phone.  iPhone 6+. Happens both with internet and without.

I am having the same problems. I have checked everything and tried all suggestions. The app worked fine on my android phone, but on this iphone4s is refuses to sync the platlists for offline mode. Actually it started to once, downloaded a few playlists then stopped and hasnt started again.  Something else that is strange, If I have a playlist marked for offline play and I stream it, when the playlist is done playing it will be abvalible, but only if I stream it first. Super frustrating. No clue how so many people could be having this problem and spotify wont fix it! I wish I hadnt prepaid for 6 months because I would cancel this service pronto if I could. If my issue is taken care of I will let you all know about it. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents into this river of bad feedback.

Hey Guys,

maybe this fits in here:

as the topic says, I have a Problem: Although my Playlist is marked as "offline available", my own mp3-files/songs are not available on my iphone. The Song ist shown in the list, but it is slightly grey and not clickable.

I googled concerning that issue, and posted a topic here, but i could not get an answer.

... appreciating our hints/tips 🙂

Hey,

This is exactly the problem I keep experiencing. My only remedy to it is to delete the Spotify app on my phone and then reinstall it. It's a real pain having to resync all your songs but this seems to be the only way to make things right. A bit annoyed that Spotify don't seem to be offering an explanation for this.

Grumble grumble. Tabitha

Using iphone 5 with IOS 8.1.3 .

Spotify premium subscription

Problem:     Songs on playlist are not playing offline.    All playlists have been synced "offline" to green.    I have deleted Spotify app on iphone and reinstalled twice.   No results.   The songs that won't play are greyed out.    Please see attached photo screen shot.

Please help.   Very frustrated.

I do have the same problem, but it only occurs to music I syncroized from my hard drive to have the titles in Spotify. This is SUPER anyoing as I need my music to teach dance and it is embarrasing when you stand in front of the class and realize that Spotify just has unsynced the playlists again and I am not able to get to the songs.

That this issue hasn't been fixed for almost two years now makes me really wonder if it's worth to keep my premium subscription or move on to elswhere.

Thanks so much for your reply.......I am a site specific plein air painter and my music is critical to making art. I am also very frustrated and find it baffling that Spotify does not provide tech support by phone. While trolling the forum sites it is readily apparent that this technical issue is widespread, yet not enough of a priority for Spotify to invest the time and energy into solving the offline/syncing issues.

I guess that the rate of sign-up for their streaming service vastly exceeds cancellations.
I am thinking of abandoning my subscription as well.

Good luck.

I have the first issue. It is so annoying! Whenever I try and make a playlist available in offline mode it doesnt appear to by syncing (there are no little green arrowns next to the song) and as soon as I leave that playlist it switches back to not available offline.

@kenznor10

Do you have enough storage space available on your phone?

Also, try to reinstall the app. I know people who have had problems in the past got it to work after reinstalling the app.

This has been reported and not fixed for over a month.

The fact that I'm terrified to update the app because I think I'll lose my offline playlists is so, so dumb.

I finally took the plunge today and updated the app--I put it off for a week but thought that it'd be probably be ok.

Wrong.

All of the tracks on offline playlists that had special characters are gone, once again.

How can they push out updates that don't address this, knowing full well that people could lose large chunks of their offline playlists, a feature that spotify touts in such a big manner?

It's really, really disappointing.

Hi

Same probleme here. Songs synced from local drive wont play. This happend after 2.3.0. update. It worked perfectly before (iphone 5, iOS 8.1.)

but im using on iphone. any idea?

Playing offline playlist, sometime it does not load the cover of the tracks.

I am using Spotify app version 2.4.0.1822 on iOS 8.1.3 on iphone 5S

I have a different issue to those...
After the most recent update, I had a problem with playlist that are entirely made up of local files. For no reason, some of those songs are no longer available offline... They just stopped being available. But they were already synced to my phone before the update, so I have no idea what has gone wrong. But that's not the end of it.. For some of those songs that are still available, when I try play them after about 3 seconds the app crashes, it once even made my phone restart (iPhone 5s) I have no idea what the hell is going on. All files are MP3 if that helps. This is actually the most frustrating bug..

I have a slightly different problem. I sync an offline playlist, all the tracks play fine for a day or so and them some of the tracks unsync themselves. It's always the same tracks. Very annoying.

I tried deleting the app from the phone and reinstalled it, but the same thing happened again.

Having the same problem with my synced songs unsyncing themselves on my iPhone.  I first noticed this problem with the update that happened toward the end of January.  un/reinstalled the app and added all of the files back.  things worked ok until a few days ago when i realized that a handful of my songs weren't synced.  each day, new songs have decided to abandon ship.  and before anyone asks, i have enough space left on my phone--several GB, i think.

i incorporated most of my iTunes library into Spotify late last year.  i was so excited that i could finally play songs from the web and songs from my library in the same playlist with Premium.  but this is really frustrating.  to be honest, the ONLY reason why i haven't canceled my subscription is that i haven't found another service that has the same capabilities.

"my mind is in my work, but my heart is on the dance floor."

yup true.. its kinda frustating tho. shouldnt subscribe to premium in the
first place. dammit
