Feedback Request: iOS Offline Issues

Solved!

Feedback Request: iOS Offline Issues

Hello everyone! Spotify here.

We are looking into customer reports about issues with offlined playlists on iOS devices (music which is downloaded to your phone so you can play without an internet connection). Our investigation shows that some folks might have experienced some issues with this so we were hoping you could answer some questions to help us diagnose the problem.

1. Have you made a playlist available offline which you could not play without any internet connection?

2. Have you made a playlist available offline which constantly downloads when you start Spotify?

Thanks,
Team Spotify

Could this issue have something to do with the fact that I use spotify on multiple devices? On my phone I don't want the playlists downloaded. But on my iPad I do want a few of them downloaded. On my iPad the downloaded songs keep showing up as not downloaded. Even though I have downloaded them.

hey,

i'm having the same problem on my iphone 4s, it wont sync anything new added to my playlists. I have enough data, a good internet conection, and i havent reached my song limit. If i re download spotify will it help? i havent done it yet in fear of it not re sync-ing any of my music. Its starting to make my morning commute a pain!

help!

My offline playlists stop playing between each or every other new song.

My Offline downlaods are playing but NO Album Artwork playing? I have seen this issue on threads in January and April, has this issue NOT been resloved yet? Need Album artwork since I am paying for Premium service I expect album artwork when playing offline please.

Ipad and iphone 5 both dont show album artwork offline?

Thank you, Scott

For some reason non-spotify songs that are synced to my iPhone crash the app. When I play a song that isn't available through spotify on my phone the app just crashes. The work around that I have found is to put the device into offline mode. I don't know if this is a permenant fix but it's working for me.

@user-removed The album artwork thats missing in offline is being acknowledged as a bug. We are looking into it.

I'm using an iphone 5 with iOS 7.1.2. Only half of the songs in a playlist will sync on my phone, regardless of how much free space I have or how new or old the songs are or even how big the playlist is. I am connected to an internet network, I'm not using 3G. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling spotify, restarting my phone, unsyncing the playlist and resyncing it later, and none of these things have fixed the issue. It still skips all the same songs on all the same playlists. I'm beginning to get really frustrated and I can't find a solution to my problem online.

@jacksrabbit Can you try to do a clean reinstallation, and after that try to sync one playlist to begin with, first? and if possible make sure your iPhone have AT LEAST 1GB of space.
(You might want to check by going to iPhone Settings -> general -> usage to see the disk space. Spotify needs at least 1GB of free space to operate.)

Click into your Spotify App -> Logout from Spotify (Spotify app Settings -> Logout) -> [If you are on premium and have songs that are on available offline, click here: https://www.spotify.com/sg-en/account/offline-devices/ and remove all devices -> Go to iPhone Settings, General, Usage and Delete the app -> Go to App Store and download the Spotify app again.

Also clear off Safari’s Cache under iPhone/iPad Settings > Safari and Clear all of the caches.

I downloaded the new Spotify update for the IPhone today. I can no longer delete songs from playlists on my phone. Swiping used to bring up a "delete" option but now it just replays the song I want to delete. Please help.

Thanks.

Ben

Don't have my iphone to hand, but does opening the edit option on the playlist allow you to delete still?

Peter - thank you very much for the suggestion. I don't see an edit option within the playlist itself. The edit option is one level back and does not enable me to delete individual songs from this playlist, as far as I can tell.

Thanks.

Ben

I've tried to remove songs from my starred list, but it won't let me. I can't swipe left to delete and when I press the three dots in the top right hand corner it doesn't give me a delete option. Two iPhones use my Spotify premium subscription and neither can delete.

Both phones are an iPhone 5S on iOS 7.1.2 and using the new update for Spotify.

Hi There,

I've had a problem with the Spotify iOS app using my data plan in offline mode. This month, for the second month in a row, I've gone over my data plan ($20 a pop) because of this app. I had the same issue a year ago when I started using the iOS app.

I can manually turn off celluar data in iOS settings, but then the app asks me at start up (an then again and again) to turn it back on.

I've had premium for a couple of years now and really enjoy the servuce, but I'm thiiiiis close to closing my account because of this. With all the problems, I really find it hard to believe that you can't provide an option to not use celluar data or keep it from leeching data for those of us on limited plans. In additition to the $10/month, I'm now $40 into extra data use charges, simply because I want to use my phone to play playlists offline.

Before you ask, I synced the offline playlists on wifi ahead of time and I've not changed anything else with the phone that would lead to extra data use.

Your attention is appreciated.

I'm having this issue as well, being unable to remove songs from Starred playlist

Spotify - it seems that a number of people are now having issues removing songs from a Starred playlist on iPhones. Please could you let us know what the solution is? Many thanks.

Yes

I constantly have this problem.

Spotify does not sync songs on my iphone for offline play

Please fix this or I will be forced  to cancel my subscription.

I regularly experience #1 and #2. I added more space to my phone thinking this would resolve the issue but it will still randomly "sync" playlists. Even after the songs/playlists show they are synced with the download button as green, they still wont play without a internet connection. I'll try going offline under settings and it still freezes with the music. It only happens with some songs though.

Recently, all my synced songs dissappeared from my iphone!! My recently saved songs are showing on my desktop versions but no longer on my mobile, so i lost all that music 😞 how do i get these to resync up? I tried loggin in and out of both desktop and mobile. help please!

thanks!

I am constantly experiencing issues using the Spotify app on my iPhone 4s. I have the latest version of the app. The issues I experience include albums or artists (NOT playlists) that I have made available offline simply disappearing from my device when I go online through the app. For instance, I synced several albums last evening, then i open the app this morning and go online to add more...and the ones I added are all gone! I am nowhere near the 3,333 track limitation, and never have been. I have had to re-add/re-sync the same music mutlitple times in the past week. It does seem that anything I've synced in a playlist remains on my device, but any individual albums or songs that I've added not via a playlist just go away. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go online. And I really don't feel like I should have to create a playlist for everything I want synced on my phone.

I also have had issues for months using the Spotify desktop app. When I go to "save" an album, the save button momentarily switches to saying "saved" before going back to "save"...the album/song does not save to my collection, no matter how many times I attempt to save it. I access the desktop app on my personal MacBook Pro as well as my work PC. The issue is the same regardless of the machine I use. This failure to save music to my collection seems to be carrying over to the app on my phone. Even things I just save to my collection through the app (regardless of whether or not I select to make them available offline) often do not appear in my collection the next day and I have to re-add them all over again.

Any help is appreciated, as I'm incredibly frustrated.

Thank you,

Andrew Smith

Hi I've been using spotify for a while in all my venues. Been able to make some great playlist, but just recently the off line mode won't load the songs I've already selected off spotify network. If not connected to the web I'm left a 50 song list out of 230. I've had this before but that's due to songs that are remixed. But the songs are available, do I have do all again manually?

I've been constantly experiencing problems with offline playlists on my iPhone 5. It stops syncing sometimes and never starts again no matter what I do. I'm reinstalling the app every few weeks to fix this issue. I realized this instability usually occurs after updates. I guess I'll have to stop updating the app or will stop using Spotify altogether since I'm really fed up with this issue.
