Feedback Request: iOS Offline Issues

Hello everyone! Spotify here.

We are looking into customer reports about issues with offlined playlists on iOS devices (music which is downloaded to your phone so you can play without an internet connection). Our investigation shows that some folks might have experienced some issues with this so we were hoping you could answer some questions to help us diagnose the problem.

1. Have you made a playlist available offline which you could not play without any internet connection?

2. Have you made a playlist available offline which constantly downloads when you start Spotify?

Thanks,
Team Spotify

Same issues as above, for quite a few days now.

Funnily enough I jumped ship from Spotify to Rdio because the app was broken and no one was speaking up from Spotify as to solutions, explanations, etc. I came back because I thought the lack of communication/effort had been resolved. Seems like it's the same old Spotify. If this isn't fixed soon it's back to Rdio, or Beats if their promised subscription rate comes to fruition.

Any updates? Have they responded to you?

I got a reply.

They said they are aware the iOS 8 version is causing some trouble and they are working hard on making a better version available "shortly" in the app store.

The definition of "shortly" is left up to me I guess.

Since Spotify evidently has no desire to fix this issue, anyone know of any tools to import Spotfiy playlists to Rdio and/or Beats so I can switch to them?

So it's seems like this has been a continuing issue for more than 1 year!

Come on Spotify, you have a great thing going, don't ruin it because of a stupid issue like that! After all, this is your CORE OFFERING for Premium customers, like myself.

At the very least respond to the posts and acknowledge the issue, say you are working on it and it will be fixed by such and such date.

Hello,

Im having the same issue as lots of people in this thread: since the last update, I am unable to listen to music that is stored on my device offline. While trying, I only see the three white loading dots.

  • Device: iPod Touch 5th gen.
  • OS: 7.1.2.
  • More than 10 GB of free space
  • Premium account

This is very annoying since I bought the iPod to use Spotify while on the road, and right now its useless and a waste of subscription money. Look, I can live with a little bug now and then and even understand that an update has its flaws shortly after being released, but this is more than a simple bug and totally undermines the whole reason for using Spotify. A refund is probably to much to ask, but a quick fix and some sort of apology seems in place. This is not what I am paying for.

Hi,
Yeah I have problems with number 2. I try to download my playlist on my iPhone 4s for offline mode, but it stops after like 25 songs. It refuses to download the other songs. I have tried to download with putting my phone on the charger like spotify suggest, but it doesn't work. I have 180 songs in my list and I don't believe that's a big list. The thing is, it works perfectly on my iPad.

I'm having the same problem with the new update on my iphone 5c.  Three loading dots on my offline music.

Just switched to iPhone from Android, and now having the issue with offline artists/albums being empty. Logged on here to check if there was a solution, and found this thread which is from LAST YEAR. Which means, I guess, this problem has not been solved for an inexcusable amount of time.

I primarily use Spotify when on the subway, so offline is essential and is why I pay $9.99 a month for Premium.

What are the best alternatives to Spotify that allow offline listening and actually WORK? Thanks.

I have music downloaded to my iPhone 5s, version 8.0.2. I have music via playlist and downloaded into the Your Music section. Unfortunatly, offline mode doesn't load my music. I have to turn my phone on Online mode just to get the music loaded, begin playing the music, then turn Offline again. Even when I do that, It will only let me play maybe up to 5 songs. Even when I'm on WiFi and offline, music still does not load. I think I'm going to delete the app, redownload the app and redownload all the music.

Yeah, they've responded but were just checking some basics about my operating system Spotify-App version etc. Lets see what their response will now be after my answer.

I had the same issue with iOS 8.0.2 on iPhone 6

This workaround seems to work:

- go back online

- open each album to make sure tracks names are downloaded again

- go back offline

After that I did all these tests to make sure the app wouldn't loose the tracks again:

- force shutdown, restart the app, everyting is fine

- rebooted the phonerestart the appeveryting is fine

- synced in itunes, unplug, restart the appeveryting is fine

- rebooted the phone againrestart the appeveryting is fine

So I guess that's working. I hope the app won't loose them again...

I'm in the process of switching from Rdio to Spotify. Rdio's offline mode works flawlessly but their latest app update for iOS made the app super slow and sluggish, which made me look for an alternative. Also, Spotify has a bigger catalogue (although Rdio has a pretty decent one too).

I hope this helps.

I have problem #1. I am using spotify on my iPod Touch fifth generation and I am running iOS 8.0.2. Spotify works great when i'm connected to WiFi but when I disconnect it still shows the albums, but when I tap on them they never load. I can go to the songs tab and play all the songs I've saved for offline playing.

In short, I'm paying $10 a month to play music that I could be playing for free and I'm kinda bummed.

I have the same problem on my iPod touch. Today my offline playlists are ok, but albums just gives me the 3 loading dots. If I connect to wifi it works again. Even in offline and airplane mode I have the same problem.

Did my usual daily check to see if the issue had been resolved, either via an update or on its own. Neither, and still no communication from Spotify.

For those of you popping in, Beats is offering a free trial to the full-access subscription and it's not bad. Not bad at all. They don't have Metallica, sadly, but that's what iTunes is for I s'pose. So far, reliable on and offline.

Hey folks! Just want to let you know we're looking into this one! As soon as I have an update for you I'll post right here.

I have the same problem as above. I sync playlists and albums to my iPhone and make them available offline. When I put Spotify into offline mode, I am no longer able to access the stored Albums - and just get the three loading dots.

This issue has been going on for approximately one month and has become increasingly frustrating as I am paying £10/month for a service I cannot use. Up until this point I would recommend Spotify to anyone that woud listen but I have since stopped since there seems to be no obvious help/support with this issue.

thanks

Darius

I'm having problems with #1 as well.

None of the music I mark as available offline is actually available offline to me.  Which sort of defeats the whole purpose.  I just have a blank list with no artist picture or anything but the "available offline" toggle is on.

Please advise.
