Freezing when changing sources

I have an issue where spotify will freeze on my iphone, sometimes randomly when i'm playing a song in the album art view, but always when I change the audio output from my laptop to my phone, using my phone. When this happens, the album art is on the screen, but no controls or anything, the rest of the screen is just greyed out. The song will keep playing and when it changes to the next song the album art changes. I can play or pause with the menu that slides up from the bottom the iphone, but I can't change playlists or do any other functions. If I restart my phone it fixes it, or sometimes if I just leave it for a long time. It is quite annoying though.
