Hey @DoubleDee42,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
Just to be on the safe side, we recommend making sure that you're both using the newest available version of Spotify and whenever you want to join the Jam session, to have your Bluetooth turned on as well.
When you've joined, but don't see what's playing at the moment then there may be some corrupted cache on your device which can cause issues with the performance. We suggest clearing the cache with a few simple steps that you can find in this article.
Hope this helps and keep us posted 🙂
Thanks for the reply @DoubleDee42!
Spotify usually starts a Jam automatically when you are connecting to a smart speaker, or a specific Bluetooth speakers. And if you're on the same WiFi, you should receive an invitation to the Jam. To join via Bluetooth, however, Bluetooth permissions needs to be enabled, and you will receive an invitation to the Jam by tapping your phones.
Could you try switch the WiFi off and on again on your phone, and then reopen the Spotify app, to see if it makes a difference? To make sure we cover all bases, could both of you also check so that you have the feature Others can start or join a Jam on this speaker switched on? You can change the settings for this in the Connect Picker.
Keep us posted on how it goes!
Tapping phones did not work this most recent time either. Sometimes it works, and most times it doesn’t. It really doesn’t seem like a settings problem, or it would never work.
I really think it’s time to call it a software problem.
Hi again @DoubleDee42,
Thanks for the response!
Have you noticed any other issues with Jam and the way it works? Are you able to join via a link to the Jam session and by scanning the QR code from the host's screen and do any issues arise then?
Before continuing further, let's make sure we've covered the basics. It's a good idea to give the app a clean reinstall both on yours and your wife's phone (if you haven't already done this) and you can follow the steps in this help article.
Additionally, it'd be great if you could test with any other device in your household if you'll get prompted to join the Jam session on your shared Wifi.
Should this behavior continue and if you're still not seeing what's playing, feel free to send us the devices' models, OS versions, as well as the Spotify-version.
We'll be on the lookout.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
