I have an old iphone with IOS 12.5.5, how can I install spotify on it?
Hey there @JOPF,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We moved your post from the Chat section to the help boards as its content fits better here.
Keep in mind that in order to download the most recent version of the Spotify app on your device, it needs to be running iOS 13 or above. Since older versions aren't supported anymore, it's not possible to download an official version of the app.
If anything else comes up, the Community will be here.
Cheers.
Hi there, having the exact same problem, did you get any luck with it working yet?
Thanks
Hi there @Felix84,
As @Novy has already said Spotify is deprecated for any devices running older versions of iOS. Even if you manage to install an older version of the app, which we don't recommend as they might be containing viruses or malware, it's not sure that you'll be able to connect to the Spotify servers and listen to music.
Hope this info clears things up.
Hello everyone,
I find it a shame not to let people dowload the old version and contribute to the depreciation. It fosters the renewal of electronic devices that are still working, which is an ecological aberration. Eventhough Spotify provides good services, as a big economic player spotify should be an example to reduce our ecological footprint.
I totally agree. I think the argument about viruses is not a valid excuse. This almost certainly driven by the hardware manufacturer pushing the cycle of obsolescence to sell product. I’m disappointed that Spotify is taking part instead of focusing on its users.
The solution is to login into the App Store with an Apple account that already had Spotify installed earlier. When you then try to install Spotify it will tell you "Hi out-of-date yadda yadda BUT you can install an older version if you want to. Yes or No?"
I couldn't agree more. Spotify should allow access to older versions for older operating systems.
I cant logon my premium session in my iPhone 5. Why?
this doesn't work anymore...any other ideas? This is frustrating!
This totally works!
If you don't have access to an account that used to have Spotify, I'm sorry...😢
I now have Spotify on iOS 12 in addition to iOS 6! (the iOS 6 one doesn't work so well...)
(Look at me, not producing e-waste and harming the environment!)
one more thing, make sure you have itunes installed on the computer you are using.
(this helps with sideloadly)
I Am also have that problem
This workaround using Sideloadly worked great. I was able to upload Spotify v.8.6.22 to my iPad Mini 2 that has iOS 12.5.7
works. thanks
I installed Spotify on iOS 12 using sideloadly as described in this thread.
Spotify worked perfectly for a few days. Then when opening the app, it flashes the Spotify logo briefly, but the app doesn't start. I reinstalled successfully twice, and tried it on another iOS 12 device with exactly the same results, works for a few days and then stops.
I thought that maybe after a few days the app tried to check for updates, and that was why it stopped working. I tried turning off updates, but it didn't help. Any suggestions anyone ?
Did Spotify continue to work on your iOS 12.5.7 since January?
Spotify worked on my iOS 12 device for few days and then would not open Spotify.
Thanks,
David
...especially since if you just _keep_ an older version of the app on your phone, it runs just fine. No concerns about viruses or other bs... it's just a deeply uncaring way to make more business on the back of users, that would be happy to continue older devices.
This should be the accepted solution.
Go to AppStore, log out, log in with a user that already has spotify, then install it (will ask for passwords multiple times) - it will complain, that you are downloading an older version, but will ultimately do so.
Although it may seem inappropriate to say here, I think you should try spotify premium ipa. It's great, I saw it at iosgodsipa and am using it.
