Just how big does the iOS app cache get?

Hello, the cache used to max out for me at 1gb (maybe about a year ago). Every now and then it would need to be deleted to get all the space back, but it was ok. Now I have a 6 plus 128GB. I have never saved a single track for offline playback on this phone. First the app grew to around 3GB. I thought something was wrong and deleted the app and reinstalled. Then it eventually went to over 4, and again I deleted and reinstalled. Now it iis well over 5GB. My question- is this normal behavior for the app, to grow forever till no free space is left? Does everyone else's cache grow seemingly limitlessly with no end in sight, or is the issue with my phone or maybe my account? It's frustrating because I intended to fill my free space with 3333 (ideally) offline songs, but I'm not going to go through that significant effort if I need to delete the app completely rebuild my offline collection every few weeks.
