Hey @max_mtl,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

In this type of case, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This step is frequently ignored, yet it offers more depth than a regular one and can assist in eliminating any cache that may be causing issues.

Also, since this could also be related to the Wi-Fi connection, would you mind checking if this happens with a different network? If you don't have another one available, you can use your mobile data or a hotspot to test it.

If the issue persists, would you mind confirming if you're a Beta/Alpha tester of the app? We asked this taking into account that the beta versions of the app are not optimized yet and it may be unstable. You can stop being a Beta tested by following the steps mentioned in this article.

We'll be on the lookout.

Same problem here. And additionally the music stops playing 50 seconds after I got out of the app - everytime. I tried nearly everything. Logout/Login. Close app and open it again. Delete it and install it again. Turn the phone off and on again. Go into settings und get everything clean. Nothing helps. Probably a bug of the latest update.

Hey @jannish1,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

In order to look into this further with the relevant teams let us know the following info:

- Your device info (make/model) and OS version

- Exact Spotify version

Also, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi @OscarDC,
thank you for your quick reply and warm welcome!

My phone:
Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

iOS version:
26.0.1 (latest version; in the video, I accidentally said 18.0.1)

Spotify version:
9.0.88.1402 (latest version)

I made a screen recording video showing and explaining the problem in more detail.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PdHB97B14Tq6Q8oTQAhjj8ARiIQZkwwz/view?usp=drivesdk

All the "standard" troubleshooting options have not worked so far, including a clean reinstall and checking the internet connection on different ways.

As described by the previous speaker @max_mtl , the app also runs significantly slower than before and lags.

I hope the video helps to understand the problem and fix it in the near future!
Thanks so far!

Best regards,
Jannis

I have this same problem on my iPhone 13 (with OS iOS 26.0.1) with the latest update of Spotify (90.88.1402) and it started yesterday.

The app loads very slow and crashes everytime I listen to any music for around 50 seconds or so.

Normally it's running smoothly without problem and usually I've used Spotify daily for like 5-10 hours or so.

I've tried each step and nothing has helped so far.

I was in contact with Spotify customer service by chat, so they are definitely aware of this.

My iPad Pro (OS 17.7.10) has the same update (90.88.1402) but that was working normally when I tested it yesterday.

EDIT: just today I tested the iPad Pro again and it seems to suffer also as it's very slow and laggy on loading etc.

Hope to see this being fixed soon!

Why not investigate and put this on the ongoing issues?

There's plenty of people having this exact problem with the update.

Yesterday when the problem started I couldn't listen to any song in full.

Just tested this around, it seems to crash only when I listen to from iPhone with locked screen. Atleast it did play the song fully when I had the display on.

Yes, I think it only USA region bag. I trying write in support and nothing helps

100% my problem too! After last update. I trying another region account my friend (India) - no problem, on his phone with my USA account app crashing

We need hotfix for last update for iPhones, please, on android users not problem with 1404 update, I check with my brother from my family spotify , on his pixel it’s ok

It’s definitely not a US only problem.

I’m on an iPhone 15 Pro

iOS 26.0.1

Spotify version 9.0.88.1402

Country Denmark

The issue has been occurring since the latest Spotify update. Like everyone else, I’ve also tried reinstalling Spotify, deleted cache, tried on a different network etc. And the issue still persist.

Spotify is acting slow and laggy. Running Spotify in the background with the display turned off, crashes the app while a song is playing after 50 seconds or so.

It definitely seems to be affecting iPhones only.

Ok.It's all worse than I thought.

Hey folks,

Thank you for the detailed reports!

For anyone new affected by this issue please share with us the following details:

  • Your device
  • Its OS and Spotify version
  • Time & date when this occurred. Example - 15:35h, 31st of Oct, Bulgarian time.
  • Do you have any issues in Offline mode?

Along with:

  • The behaviour of the app with the screen switched on and the app in focus
  • The behaviour of the app when it's in the background
  • The behaviour of the app when the screen is off

Thank you for your patience with this. We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

Okay everyone,

It's a strange coincidence, but try this:
I left the app open for about 15 minutes and played music. Only then did I exit the app and let the music continue to play. Currently, the music does not stop again after 50 seconds, but continues to play without any problems. In addition, the app is now running smoothly and no longer causes any issues.

I don't know if this is only temporary.
A permanent solution should still be found. But maybe this will help you temporarily. Let me know if this works for you too.

Good to see this go somewhere, I have now been contacted and my case has been forwarded to the Escalations team, the highest level of Customer Support at Spotify.

I will provide them details and such regarding the problem, so hoping to see this being looked after and fixed.

lol. It’s really working))) I think update continued install components only in full mode app, and after 10-15 minutes it’s finished and app started work normally. I minimised app after 15 minutes and crash stop, I do full close app and open again and music not stop now 10 minutes of more

I think it’s a cure!:) but update bad
