My Question or Issue

So, I've added a few tracks from a local file server location into a playlist. I can play the tracks without issue on my phone and on my Mac, but when I go to play on say a connected Sonos device, all the other devices show 'Can't play this track' (eg Sonos Play5, Blaybase, Play1). The local files are MP3 format, have downloaded fine to my iPhone & MacBook Pro. The only device that shows up as able to play on my iPhone is my MacBook Pro and vice-versa.

If I go to another playlist, with I guess, Spotify sourced tracks and it's all fine and dandy..

Any thought?

TIA

Hey @Fainbrog,

The playback of local files via Spotify Connect to other devices, such as your Sonos speakers, is not currently possible, I'm afraid. There's a live idea about implementing such a feature though, which I'm sure you'll find useful, so feel free to check it out and show your support.

Note that despite its status, the idea is open for voting, so you can still give it a thumbs up. We revisit such ideas on regular intervals and it just might be that their time would be right in the future. More info on how your feedback reaches Spotify here.

Ha! How ridiculous. It's 2024, Spotify. Oh well, back to iTunes.
