Local files greyed out

hi, Ive looked at loads of threads and still can't fix my problem. I want to be able to listen to my local files from my macbook on my ipad so i have the correct local files to be availibl on spotify. They show up on my ipad but they are greyed out, I tried making another playist as some post suggested but they are still greyed out and say 'song not downloaded, if you own this song you can sync it from your computer'. Both my ipad and macbook are connected to the same wifi, I have tried redownloading the app on my ipad, got all the newest software quicktime updates for my macbook and nothing works.

please help
