My Question or Issue

When I listen to music with my iPhone, sometimes the song will simply stop playing after 10 seconds. This is totally random and happens with different songs.

 

My player will still indicate that the music is playing and that I can pause it. The progress bar on its end is frozen on the 10 sec mark.

However, when trying to pause/play the music, nothing happens.

 

I have to completely restart the app so that my music can resume.

Hi Spotify!

probelm: same as above music plays 10 seconds then pauses. 

 

subscription: Spotify premium

 

device(s): apple iPhone 13, iPad pro, windows desktop app, Spotify web player

 

I have tried all of the above devices to stream music and they all have the same problem, which rules out the need to do a "clean reinstall". 

 

this seems like a lager problem on the spotify software side. please get back to me with a viable solution, we the faithful community are counting on you to put the music back in our ears so we can go back to work/ the gym/ household chores/ what ever else we the people do.

Does the issue occur on a different device with your account? Have you tried replicating this? If not, it'd be great if you can test it and let us know. This will help us understand if it's account related or not. 
 

If you don't have another device available, you can try creating a free account for testing purposes and start a playback to see if you'll experience the same.

 

In case the issue persists, it'd be great if you could tell us the of the exact Spotify version you're currently running. Any screenshots you can provide will also be helpful to identify what's causing the issue.

I tried all of the above and nothing worked. I had Spotify on two phones (work and personal). On a whim I deleted from one of the phones and immediately solved. Not sure but hope it might help someone else. 

I'm having this issue on Google Chrome v. 106.0.5 using Mac OS Big Sur. Song will play for 10 seconds and then stop. Progress bar continues, pausing reverts to the 10 sec mark.

Could you let us know if this happens with other browsers as well? Also, would you mind checking if the same happens on an incognito window too?

 

On another note, could you try using a different internet connection to see if the same happens?

Hello, hope you don't mind someone else replying here - I am having the same problem, but it only started immediately after I signed up for a paid account, which is kind of frustrating - I just wanted ads to go away.  I have closed and reopened browser tab, checked for most current version of browser (Chrome, and it IS most current). I'm hardwired to an excellent Internet connection. Problem also occurs in Firefox.  Problem also occurs in incognito window.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

Just to confirm, are you using any VPNs? If so we suggest that you turn it off since it can interfere with the app's performance. 

 

On another note, could you let us know if this happens across devices? 

 

Lastly, would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your PC to see if they can replicate this with a different account?

Didn’t help at all

Hello, I have a similar issue where any un-downloaded music pauses after 4-10 seconds after playing. This happens on all my devices, and the web player does not play any sound at all. I've tried updating, clearing the cache on all my devices, as well as signing out everywhere. Do you have any suggestions?

Having this issue as well out of nowhere. Spotify was working perfectly fine yesterday and now all songs stop after about 7 seconds. happens on the web too.

Glad to see I’m not the only one this is happening to right now. Clean reinstall didn’t help. 

Obviously this is something Spotify changed or updated in the last 12 hours. My app worked fine yesterday and this morning we are all having the same issue. My app will play podcasts with no issues but will not play music past 10 seconds. I’ve done every solution above and nothing works. Version 8.8.30.499

I ended up resetting my password and that seems to be working for now. I don’t know why that worked since I was able to log into my account with no issues with the old password. Give that a try

I am trying spotify (free) for a few days to see if I wanted to subscribe but it started playing only 10 seconds of songs in my playlist.  It works fine if I search and play something outside a playlist.  That makes it worthless to me.  While the 10 seconds are playing, an icon very similar to the download progress icon is displayed, like it is downloading an app.  I tried every fix suggested in this, and several other posts but nothing makes any difference.  Reload the app, clear the cache, log out, log in, delete the app and reboot and reload app, change password, change networks, delete my playlist and start a new one, turn off battery optimization.  No change.   Not that it matters but I am using iPhone 11.  App version is 8.8.52.521.  I see  hundreds of other users posting that they have the same problem.  Some get it resolved, most do not.  Many different devices.  Not a single actual fix.

Would you mind providing a bit more info about what's going on? Is this happening with every song or playlist that you play? 

 

Also, let us know the make, model, OS version and the exact Spotify version currently running on the device in which you're having this issue.
