Hey there,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

The feature that allows the app to play recommended content when you reach the end of an album, playlist, or selection of songs is Autoplay. You can double-check if the feature is enabled on your device by following the steps in this article.

If the feature is enabled, but the app is not playing suggested content, would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of the affected device along with the Spotify version you're running there?

If this is not what you meant in your post, would you mind sending us a more detailed description of exactly what is happening on your side? Please send us as much info as possible, so we can better understand the issue you encountered.

Hi, I have the opposite problem. I have autoplay off and I've checked several times, and I have a playlist with more than 15 songs, yet I still get suggested songs and cannot turn this off. Its a pain to try to listen to my hip-hop playlist and get conutry-pop in the middle of it. I am on Verseion 8.9.12.541 ehich seems to be the latest.

Hey @M1chlr,

Welcome to the thread!

Keep in mind that Autoplay plays similar songs when an album, playlist, or selection of songs end. As you've written that you get country-pop in the middle of your playlist, it sounds like you may have enabled the Smart Shuffle function that adds tracks to your playlists.

You can find out more info, as well as how to enable/disable it in this article. If it doesn't work, we recommend logging out > logging back in twice in a row, because this helps re-sync your Spotify-account and the device you're using.

Hope this helps 🙂

Hi, I have the same issue but on an S24. My spotify version is 8.9.78.513

I miss picking a playlist and letting Spotify do its thing all day. Now it plays the same playlist over and over. I liked the suggested songs at the end of my playlist .   Know what else i miss?  Create similar playlist option.  It feels as if Spotify is trying to make things better but but I feel they're just making them worse.

I have this issue. Option is enable, but not suggested content.

model/make: iPhone 12 pro

spotify version: 9.0.20.538

Hey there @mlnguyen094,

Thanks for your reply here.

We understand that, even if the Autoplay feature is enabled on your account, when you reach the end of an album, playlist, or selection of songs, Spotify does not automatically play similar songs, correct?

If that's the case, would you mind sending us:

  • A more detailed description of what's happening. Does this happen while playing some specific content such as an album or playlist, or perhaps when searching for a song?
  • Have you tried additional troubleshooting, such as cleanly reinstalling the app? If yes, let us know exactly what you have tried.
  • Send us a video recording of this behavior. You can attach the video to your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can watch it.

Hey @Justrhicks,

Thank you for joining the conversation.

In order to continue investigating this with internal teams, let us know the following info:

- Your device info (make/model) and OS version

- Exact Spotify version

Also, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look as @AlejaR previously requested? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout.

Hey 👋🏼

I’m experiencing the same issue. I have the auto play on, but it’s not playing suggested songs, even with the smart shuffle off, and the repeat is not on. I will upload a video in the next reply. I have attached pictures of the phone version, app version, and showing proof that the option is on.

I cannot upload the video, the 11 second video is too large.

Hey @J-H-93,

Welcome to the thread and thanks for the details!

If the video's too large to attach here, then you can instead upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us so we can take a look.

From the screenshots that you provided I can see that you're streaming music to an external device (JBL). To be on the safe side, could you let us know if the issue continues when the playback is directly from your phone? Additionally, if there's another device you can stream to, it would be great if you could test this too.

Appreciate the cooperation and hope to hear from you soon.

Hi - playing from a speaker was never an issue before. I’ve been streaming from my speaker for years without this being an issue. This is an issue that needs to be fixed by Spotify.

Hey there @J-H-93,

Thanks for your reply and for all the info shared so far.

We understand where you're coming from, and that this behavior can be frustrating. Would you mind sharing with us the exact troubleshooting steps you've tried so far? If you haven't, we'd recommend you perform a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device, so you can make sure the stored cache is not leading to this behavior. You can follow the steps in this article to do it.

Now, if the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to continue gathering the additional info mentioned by @Ivelina above to continue isolating this behavior further. As mentioned above, and just to confirm, does this happen when the playback comes directly from your phone?

Additionally, we'd like to check:

  • Does this happen if you connect your phone to a different Bluetooth device?
  • Does this happen while playing some specific content such as an album or playlist, or perhaps when searching for a song?
  • Since you mentioned you had no issues before, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?

Remember you can attach a video recording of this behavior. You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can watch it.

Hi! Thank you for the response as well! I’m happy to keep contributing to troubleshoot this issue.

- I have uninstalled and reinstalled on my phone. The same problem occurs.
—I also uninstalled and reinstalled after logging out completely and disconnecting from Bluetooth. So I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 different times. The same issue occurs.

- I have the Spotify app on my computer as well and it’s having the same issue.

(Computer is a Dell Inspiron Core i7 and Windows 11 Pro, completely updated and stays up-to-date)
—I have also uninstalled and reinstalled on the computer multiple times, along with logging out and disconnecting from Bluetooth. The same process as I did on my phone. The same issue occurs.

i truly believe this is just a disconnect in the app itself, that Spotify will need to investigate on their part. Since this is happening not only on iPhones and Androids, but also Windows apps as well. I do have it on my Xbox, however I have not checked that since I’m hardly on it and hardly home since I travel often.

I hope this helps! I truly hope this gets resolved soon, because I’m about to resort to Pandora for the shuffle of playing “alike/similar” songs. I miss the variety without having to search for every song or choose a pre-made playlist.

Hey @J-H-93,

Thanks for your detailed reply.

I've tested this on my end (I happen to own the same speaker) but couldn't reproduce the issue. Have you checked if the Autoplay setting is also enabled on your laptop? Note that it's a global setting which can be toggled on/off from different devices so it's worth making sure that it's set to ON in all of them.

On another note, can you confirm again if this is happening only when using the speaker? This will help us narrow down the possible cause.

Cheers,

Confirming that this doesn’t happen with only the speaker.. as I’ve stated before when I specifically listed the multiple things I’ve done for troubleshooting.

Yes, autoplay is on.. as stated before as well. Smart shuffle is off. Even tried it with smart shuffle on..

Thanks for confirming @J-H-93 and apologies for the redundant questions.

@Justrhicks and @mlnguyen094, is this still happening on your end? I'd like to report this to our tech team and the more examples we have, the easier it will be for them to investigate. If it is, please let me know the models and current app versions of the affected devices.

Cheers,
