New user - Problem playing music on ipad

I am new to Spotify and have downloaded the app on my ipad.  When I go to play music, I get a pop-up which says that I need premium to do that.  What am I doing wrong ?

Do you have a premium subscription?

Spotify premium is required to use Spotify on any mobile device (apart from free mobile radio in the USA).

Thanks Peter, I had not picked up anywhere that it was required when I downloaded the App.
