Permanently disable smart Shuffle

Solved!

Permanently disable smart Shuffle

I am so tired of the smart Shuffle. I cannot even fully explain to you how useless of a thing it is. if it was its own thing, and I could toggle it on or off I’d be fine with that but being someone else who puts music in a playlist because I specifically like that song and not another song is very frustrating when I’m listening to my playlist and I have to run to Spotify to turn it off because either I didn’t notice it was on or I have to press it twice to turn it off I’m never gonna use this feature, and I genuinely cannot stand it and it irritates me so much that I cannot turn this off permanently.

Hey @actuallycece @slo0ath @Marnelle @Scib @LilithMaze1998

Good news! Spotify has listened to user feedback and you can now disable Smart Shuffle from the mobile app settings, as mentioned in this now implemented idea. This setting will also be added to the desktop app in a future update.

Steps to disable Smart Shuffle in the mobile app:

  1. Tap on your profile picture at the top left corner
  2. Tap on Settings and privacy
  3. Tap on Playback
  4. Switch Include Smart Shuffle in play modes off

Note: This is for Premium users only and right now it's only available in the mobile app, but in a future update, there will be a setting to disable Smart Shuffle in the desktop app as well.

Hey there @actuallycece! We appreciate your feedback!

You can support this idea here by adding your +VOTE and clicking on Subscribe in the three-dots menu at the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up-to-date with any relevant updates about this. It’s also worth knowing that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented.

We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more about how ideas work.

Hope this helps clear things up.

How many people's votes are necessary for Spotify to implement the idea? It's already been a year. If they wrote a single line of code every day since then, the godforsaken option would've been available already. Come on devs, go do your job.

Over a year and they still haven't put a remove smart shuffle button in the settings, I'm done with spotify, I've paid for years and used it but this is just absolute**bleep** it literally kills the vibe every time it turns itself back on. I'll listen elsewhere!

It's over 4 years actually, there are other threads asking for implement TRUE shuffle

Ok, now it's getting back on in the same playlist even after I turned it off just a few seconds ago. I really hope that this is a bug, not expected behavior.

I even registered here to mention this problem, hope you finally listen to people.
