Play button doesn’t start playlist when Recommended is playing

Play button doesn’t start playlist when Recommended is playing

Device

iPhone X

Operating System

iOS 16.7, the latest and last available on this phone.

My Question or Issue

I’m not even sure why or when it started, but I heard a song that was 100% not on the playlist I was listening to. Or thought I was listening to - somehow Spotify decided it wanted to start playing recommended songs even though I only ever play from a playlist.

But that’s not the problem. The problem is that when “now playing” is not the playlist, the playlist is still sort of ‘active’ or ‘selected’. What I mean by this is: when I go to Home or Library, tap my playlist (the last one I was listening to and which the Recommended is based off of) and tap the Play button, it just unpauses and continues the recommend. I have to go to a different playlist or album and play that before I can go back to the one I want to play.

Hi there @Demi180,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll glad to help you enjoy your playlists to the fullest.

This behaviour is quite odd. Does this only happen on your iPhone or on other devices too? If you haven't tested this, please do so. In any case let's cover our basics. Consider performing a full clean reinstall on the iPhone, this should clear any damaged cache, which can more than likely resolve this issue.

If it persists, please let us know if this only happens on the iPhone and send us a screen recording so we can see exactly what's happening. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

Let us know how it goes.
