Why does Spotify think PC users want their pc app to be exactly like their phone app?
There is a reason why phone apps are designed the way they are. There is a small screen and a crappy keyboard, no mouse.
PCs have big screens, great keyboards, mice and touch screens (if you're that way inclined).
So just exited my desktop app because it was playing up and re-opened it (always a frightening moment) and there was a new version. And now it is much more like my phone app. FFS I don't want a phone app on my pc.
Five minutes ago I had a link to my artists in the treeview on the LHS of the app. It's gone!!!!!!!!!! I now have to click on "Your Library" and then go to Artists.
Five minutes ago I clicked on an Artist and got taken straight to the songs I had liked for that Artist (and one would assume therefore the songs by that artist that I actually wanted to listen to). Not any more. I get taken to the Artist's page and I have a link to go to my Liked songs. Just like my phone. Which is why I really don't like using Spotify on my phone.
Why, oh why? Presumably those people who think Spotify on the phone is great, use their phones. Those people who don't use their pc. We are different people and deserve different apps and until 5 minutes ago us pc heads had that.
But now I've got to pretend my pc is my phone.
And now I get to the point in the heading of this topic. A point I have hammered on about so many times. There is a link on the menu jokingly called "Preferences". But Spotify doesn't like giving you any real preferences so it's pretty much a waste of time it being there. You go to a lot of trouble to build your playlists etc based on the way Spotify works and has worked for many years and then suddenly it all just changes. No "Do you mind" and worse no option to keep it as it was. That's what the preferences option is for.
Eg a checkbox "I am a 10 year old child and would like my pc app that I never use to operate exactly like my phone please".
To be fair, the change is not all bad (about 99% bad). The songs in my Artist's list now display the album cover alongside each song, which is visually more pleasant. But since I tend to listen to the app not look at it, I can live without it and would like my Artist's link and page to work as before please.
