Random suggested songs

I've been using Spotify free for probably over a year now but just today while listening to The Lonely Island on shuffle, random Top 40 songs were popping in as "suggested songs". I use Spotify as single-artist stations, any suggestions on how to curb or kill these? Is this part of some update? It's really infuriating as I want rap/comedy and not Katy Perry.
