Search functionality missing from spotify carplay on IOS26

My Question or Issue
The search function/button/voice search is gone now from spotify in carplay. It still works from the app on my phone and I can search on my phone to find a song for carplay to play but I should not have to pick up my device while driving to search for a song when then the voice search functionality existed previously. Is this fully gone or was it moved to a new spot I cant find?

Exactly the same problem has happened to me. When my wife’s phone attaches to the car it works fine but with a new iOS system it is missing- I’ve spent hours trying to fix this and it is dangerous to remove the search function from the CarPlay, where Siri was easy to use

What is the timeline on a resolution?

Now you have had 10 days to look into this removal of a critical feature without getting back with a reply - what have you found?

Hopefully the removal was just a mistake and will be rectified ASAP.

I don’t like that it is marked as a solution as if it is somewhat resolved.  This item should be very much unresolved and should take immediate action to fix.  The fact this has been down this long is making me question cancelling.  The solution you gave is not acceptable.  To use the Siri button on my cars steering wheel is slower and more delayed than the magnified glass search button and the Spotify Siri works much clearer and faster than my car Siri steering wheel button.  The replacement DJ for one is completely annoying and do not accept this switch at all.  To remove the recently searched/played music is also ridiculously inconvenient.  Both of the two functions are the only functions I used on Apple car play for Spotify and would say these are the most used functions on my car minus my heating and cooling buttons!  

I am definitely upset about this change personally.  Since reporting this I am reading the scads of other people and find this so disheartening to read all the parents with children who with all they have to deal with and in a moving vehicle you make it harder for them to calm their children with music by taking away necessary functions to using this programming.  

This needs fixed ASAP and I want reimbursement for the time it has not been fixed or I will be cancelling.  This went from an excellent app to **bleep** with this two changes.  Unacceptable.

You are right!!!!!  2 critical features making the app **bleep** to me and such a huge delay in not having it rectified.  I want my money back for this month plus of not having it!!!!  

We want an update!  We are unhappy and this is a big deal that seems like you aren’t taking seriously!

To whomever decided on this change: tell me you never use Spotify in Carplay, without saying you never use Spotify in Carplay.

 

Now bring back the search function!

I completely agree. I am really going to cancel my subscription if this won’t be fixed asap.

NO. THIS IS NOT RESOLVED. I do not accept this as a solution. The only solution is to bring back the search function.

I reached out to Spotify support to address this issue and give me my money back for the time of this very poor update and to cancel the subscription.  After 1 hour of my time I do not have my money back, no update on resolution and they didn’t cancel my subscription!!!!! Also this is the BS message I was given:

I can assure you we don’t need this test!  It is 1 unsafe!, 2. NOT user friendly, 3. Poorly designed for people with disabilities.  

Regarding refund:

 

Checking here on our policy regarding refunds, we can only issue them if it's within our withdrawal period. This period is from the day you signed up for the plan.

 

I didn’t agree to these changes and not the product I signed up for over 5 years ago!  So I had one month from the date I signed up for reimbursement that is ludicrous.  YOU changed your platform to be less user friendly and dangerous and I’m not paying for it and have to jump through 10 hoops and over an hour of my time.  Give me my money back!!!!!

 

You went from having one of the best apps on the market to the worst in two changes.  Your customer service is terrible and you should be ashamed of the service I was given today from your two employees!

 

Everyone should cancel their subscription this company does not care!

This is not a solution, I spent 10 minutes talking to siri on my phone trying to get a song and I’m in the car and my commute is only 15 minutes. I used to be able to get the song immediately with the search function in CarPlay. This is a backwards development The Siri on my phone often doesn’t even go to Spotify. This takes my concentration off driving so I no longer use Spotify in the car and wonder whether I should carry on with sporify, since I mainly use Spotify in the car- please solve this. When my wife drives the car with her old iPhone, it works fine.
