Ever since I updated my iPhone to iOS 11, shuffle does not work in my car (on Bluetooth). I click shuffle and it immediately goes back to alphabetical order. Shuffle still works when it’s not on Bluetooth though. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Solved! Go to Solution.
It is possible it's an IOS 11 issue, but I'm sure the tech's at Spotify are looking into it and trying to find a way to fix this, again I'll let you know if I hear anything, hopefully it is fixed soon so you don't have to keep manually setting it everytime you get in your car!
I'm having the same issue (for a few months now, too): when connecting to BT in my car (Audi Q3) Shuffle shuts off automatically.
What I've observed is that Shuffle turns off automatically when Spotify starts auto-playing music upon connecting to the car, and that only happens when the Spotify app is already open unfortunately.
If Spotify has been force closed (double tap home button, swipe up Spotify) before my phone connects to BT in the car, Spotify will not begin auto-playing music, and Shuffle will not be off when I go to start playing music manually.
I'm on iOS Eleven dot One dot One, iPhone Seven, Spotify version Eight dot Four dot Twenty Seven.
I’ll have to try this. I almost always have Spotify open because when I first downloaded it, all of my music would disappear when I was offline (even if it said it was downloaded). Maybe now things will be better and I can try opening it after I get in the car and the Bluetooth is connected. Thank you!
Has Spotify actually fixed this issue in the new Apple updates?
It really should not be an issue anymore once it has been put to their attention.
Honestly, I haven’t even tried using shuffle without going through the steering wheel. They didn’t seem like they were planning on fixing it now that a “solution” has been found. I’ll try it later today and see if it is working. I’m not getting my hopes up though!
Hey guys,
I'm not sure if it is fixed as I don't have an Apple device to test it on, give it a shot and let me know.
If it isn't fixed I'll pass it on to the right people!
Best,
Jordan
Hello Jordan,
I tried it yesterday, and it is still not allowing me to use shuffle from my phone while it’s on Bluetooth. It lets you click shuffle, but when the next song comes on, it goes back to the order from the playlist.
Hopefully you’ll be able to find something out. Thanks!
Hey @Aschembari88,
Thanks for letting me know, I'll pass this on and if I find anything I'll let you know!
This look like the same issue as the one described in this thread
It's being happening in my car (Audi A1) since May, that's on multiple versions of iOS 10 and 11. Definately a Spotify issue. Frankly it seems as though they have no intention of fixing this, despite knowing about it for a long time.
Thank you! I didn’t know about this thread even though it’s older than mine. It is absolutely ridiculous that after all of these users complaining, they still choose to put it on the backburner like it’s not a major safety issue. I did find a temporary solution. I click on the handsfree button on my steering wheel while the music is playing and say “shuffle all” and it works. This is NOT a solution, even though spotify seems to think it is. It is a temporary fix for a major issue. They need to get it together and make this issue a priority!
Hey guys,
I believe this isn't their first priority because either, people don't use this feature enough in comparison to others and so they are concentrating on those, or that it is actually the cars causing the issue, because I believe it may be the cars telling the Spotify app to get out of Shuffle mode, especially as when you set the car the shuffle it works.
This is my 2 cents on the matter, but either way I'm sure a fix will come out eventually.
Happy holidays guys!
I appreciate there's nothing you can do about it CRYT, and at least you are responding, however it's something that worked fine for over a year in my car prior to an update to the Spotify app in May.
It's a safety issue in the UK because it's technically illegal to use your phone whilst the engine is running. This is a fine and 6 points on your licence now. My car does not have the ability to turn on shuffle via the steering wheel or voice command. Therefore, the only legal option is to turn on the battery, wait until the phone connects to the car's MMI (1 min+), turn on shuffle on the app, then turn on the engine and go. 90% of the time I don't bother and end up listening to my playlist sequentially, which ends up being the same songs more often than not. It's frustrating.
Chances are there are a lot of people affected who just put up with it.
I'm glad you understand and I wish there were anything I could do, but that is as you know, out of my hands.
Have a happy holiday and I'll see you in the new year!
(PS. I love that you used my abreviation 'CRYT'!)
Any luck? I'm still having this issue.
Unfortunately, no. I am still going through my car’s Bluetooth system and getting Spotify to shuffle that way.
Hey guys,
Sorry but I have not been able to recreate the problem so I haven't been able to find a fix.
I will continue more testing and let you know if I find anything!
Best,
Jordan
Interestingly, I recently gave Amazon Pr*me Music a go and had the same issue (shuffle turns off as soon at the phone connects to the car).
