Iphone X, iOS 13.2.2

 

Just moved to an X, from an iPhone 6 plus, upon which Spotify worked well.

 

On the X, I have a play list where around half the songs are hazed out in the play list, and if I try and play I see the error message"song not downloaded"  I'm not yet trying to download the song - it won't stream either.  But every song I have checked so far is available and I can re-save into the play list where it will stream or download.  I guess there are 70 odd tracks with this issue out of a total of around 190.  I tried a full reinstall to no avail.  The same issue is occur on my Mac too.

Any ideas???

Hi there!

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

 

I'd also suggest using the Remove Offline Devices and Sign Out Everywhere from your Spotify account page 🙂


If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

Last Saturday I started a chat session with Spotify tech services, and
after an hour of trying all kinds of things a new account was created, and
I was assured that given 24 hours everything would be OK.
The same issue persists, with loads of tracks hazed out in the playlist!!
I will contact Spotify again but right now just dont have the energy to
re-engage!
To your specific questions - I followed already the step by step
instruction to remove the phone and Mac app to no avail. Given the issue
is both on my phone and Mac, then it makes sense to conclude the issue is
at Spotify, and not in my own set-up of phone and Mac?

Running an iPhone x on iOS 13.2.2 with Spotify version 8.5.32.808

My Mac is an 11" Air, 2014 running Catalina 10.15.1 - Spotify
version 1.1.20.510.g7d28aaaa

The strange thing is that all of the tracks I checked that are hazed out in
the playlist and not able to stream or download are readily available in
Spotify outside the playlist. Thats why I believe the issue is at Spotify
end of things and not my end!

Thanks for explaining that to me 🙂

 

It seems you have "the outdated" version of the song. This happens often as the artists remove and add their work in the streaming platforms. When they do the link to the ones you had in Your Library will be broken making them unavailable to stream. Even if the song is added again it will be treated as a new added song/album or whatever it might be.

 

The only solution is to re-add those songs. In your phone go to Settings > Playback and turn off Unhide Unplayable Songs so you can do that from the phone.

Or on Desktop go to Settings under Display Options turn Show unavailable songs in playlists on.

 

I'd also suggest updating to iOS 13.2.3 🙂
