Spotify 1.7.0 crashing on sync

Just added some new local files to my starred playlist yesterday, and app was crashing when I tried to sync (about 12 songs?)

Then today the same was happening, reinstalled the app, synced all the spotify tracks fine, then tried to sync the local files (approx 150), it made it until the last 60 before crashing. Since then it syncs a couple at a time, before crashing up until the last ~45, and now it crashes immediately upon opening the app. 

Any ideas/help would be appreciated!

Spotify is a 9/10 idea, with 5/10 execution and somewhere between 0 and 1 for customer service.

I've asked multiple times for a refund form/ contact for manager of billing department but they seem to ignore that demand and offer me BS in return.

Changing the region settings hasn't worked for me. I'm on a iPhone 5 with 7.1.2. I've been reading through the posts and I also changed the filters to show offline only so am wondering whether that's the issue.

I can't change it back because the app will crash on start up. I really don't want to have to reinstall - I live in an area with the slowest broadband and a crappy data allowance. Will there be another update or is there anything else I can try???

If you reinstall the app it will keep crashing so don't delete the app and wait until there is an update, it will save you resyncing all your playlist six or seven times like I have.

I am in the UK.

Changed to USA.

Not fixed!!!! I'm still crashing at launch. This is irritating. Im doing all of Spotifys QA work. I bill in excess of $100 an hour for this work and they won't even refund me for service I can't use. I'm sadly looking into Pandora after being faithful to Spotify for over 2 years.

Sadly if that doesn't work you will have to wait for Spotify to update the app.

I will keep you guys updated in case I have figured out a solution.

HI guys !

I think I got the solution. At first you have to delete the app from your phone and restart. Then download the app from the appstore but with the changed region settings. Open Spotify download your playlist and DO NOT FILTER it with the "just offline playlist"-filter. After that change the region to your orginal one. In the end the app wont crash but the only problem is that all your playlists are shown. You can sort them on your PC/Mac with the Spotify app. On your Iphone you cant sort them. All of them are shown. Offline and Online playlists

Tested on Iphone 6 / iOS 8.

Finally that worked!! Man c'mon guys iOS 8 is out iPhone 6 out and you could not fix this bug earlier?? It's a bandaid not a fix. I would revommend you put an announcement on you web site for you users.

Same here. After updating to iOS 8 the spotify app crashes at startup...

I had a similar problem as everybody has been posting. I have an iPhone 5 and just updated to iOS8 and Spotify would not open. What worked for me was to put the phone in airplane mode and then open the app. I then turned off airplane mode and it seemed to work. Not sure if this wil lwork for everybody but it did for me.

Yes.  Putting it in airplane mode, opening Spotify and then taking if out of airplane mode worked for Iphone 5  IOS 8 Thank you!

 Just chiming in.  The app is also crashing for me every time I open it.  Happens on my new iphone 6 and also happened on my iphone 5.  IOS8.  1.7.1.

i have deleted, reinstalled, and resynced many times on my iphone 5s ios version 7.1.2 and it still keeps on crashing at startup which is really irritating. the airplaine mode method didn't work for me eihter. any thoughts on what could be wrong with my beloved spotify?

I gave it one more go.  This time I did not utilize the "filter by offline".  I realized that this problem started when I realized that feature existed.  It's a great feature, but sadly it causes the app to crash if you close out of it and go back in.   Please fix this... Although my opinion of Spotify has been greatly damaged.   It's been days since I sent an email to customer service and I have yet to hear back.

I think I've found a workaround that actually works - it's called cancel your Spotify subscription.
