Spotify Connect is NOT working for volume controlling

Solved!

Spotify Connect is NOT working for volume controlling

Plan : Premium

Device: iphone13

Operating System iOS

My Question or Issue

Dear community, and spotify,

I think spotify connect is not working for volume controlling.

I have been using spotify with other speakers and web players using spotify sdks, and my devices are appearing correctly to the spotify app of my iphone. However, I can't control the volume for the connected devices from spotify app of my phone.

About 2 weeks ago, it was working and I could control the volume through my phone, but it suddenly broken without any noticing.

Please make it clear if this is my own problem or spotify's internal issue.

Somebody please help me to solve this issue...

Thanks.

Didn't solve it for me, unfortunately.  This must be a bug in the recent app update, right?

Any news on this issue?

Unfortunately not.  Silence from Spotify.  Very disappointing.

Can someone from Spotify support answer please?

I have exactly the same issue and can confirm on my phone that is started with the upgrade to iOS 17.  I upgraded both phones and on both I can now only control the volume of Spotify through my Sony soundbar with the slider in the Spotify App, the iPhone volume buttons have no impact now on the volume of the soundbar, they just change the volume on the phone itself. Apple Music works fine re changing the volume of the soundbar with the volume buttons so this seems to be an incompatibility between the latest version of Spotify and iOS 17.  Spotify support, any indication as to when this glitch will be fixed as it’s a very key feature?

I have this issue too. iOS 16.6 iPhone SE2020

spotify app version 8.8.96.395

Anyone from Spotify that can answer?

Same issue here - has only popped up in the last few days?

iPhone 15 pro running iOS 17.3 - the volume buttons only control the ringer volume when connected to my Google Home speaker groups now. Pretty frustrating...

Hi ya’ll,

iphone 13 with iOS 17.3 (21D5026f) (developer build)

sound control works with sliders, but not with the native buttons, this problem is NOT Spotify related as this is a problem with all casting, (e.a YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, TuneIn, SoundCloud) on every device on multiple households.

single speaker or a speakergroup doesn’t matter

this problem lays with either google or apple or both.

volume control works fine on android devices.

i hope you all have a good New Year’s Eve!

*UPDATE*

Did a hard restart on my iPhone (so volume up, volume down and hold power button) and this totally fixed the issue… 🤷‍

Tried it twice. No luck.

Hey folks!

Chiming in with an update 🙂
This is being looked into backstage, so we're keeping out fingers crossed it will get resolved quickly.
For anyone new here, please provide us with the following info:

Keep you app up to date in the meantime.
Many thanks!

Hi Vasil,

Thanks for the update!

Good to know this is worked on.

Just to let you people now that I noticed that the slider (the one you get when you tap on the connected speaker in the app) does actually move when you press the physical buttons. The volume does not change though.

If I up the volume, and then move the slider, the volume will snap to the level that the slider was set to.

Is this just an app context issue on the phone? If I’m listening to Spotify on my phone then connect it to my speaker, then switch apps to something else that may support audio playback, how does

the phone know whether you want to change the Spotify volume or the currently active app

volume ?

I also have this problem. Controlling my music was the main reason for purchasing the watch. On a daily basis, I have to remove Spotify from my watch then reinstall it. It is causing me to really think about whether I will bye another one in the future.

I’m having the same problem.

iPhone 15 Pro Max

Just updated to the latest iOS and it fixed this problem for me. I was just as frustrated as you all. Hoping it doesn't revert back, but for now it's good!
