My Question or Issue

Hello,

for a couple of weeks now and all of a sudden Spotify Connect is acting hectic in the sense that it’s not playing the selected song, it skips them after 10 seconds of silence and even not playing at all even though I respect the track. For a couple of days now it stops the track 10 seconds before it ends and than plays ștaif when 23 seconds are left off the track.

I’ve browsed the internet to see if I’ll find similar issues being reported. I did find something but the fixes reported are not working, full stop.

I would appreciate some knowledge or feedback from the community cause nothing seems to work and I can’t listen to music because it skips full tracks which is annoying when you pay for a service.

Thx!

Hey there @Kiddoo,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community! We'd love to help and look into the Connect issue you're experiencing further.

Just to confirm, does this happen with one specific device when using Connect on your iPhone? Or does it occur with multiple devices? For example - speakers, TVs, from mobile app to desktop, etc.

It would also be great if you could let us know what troubleshooting you've tried so far, as this will help us avoid repeating steps. Also, have you noticed if this happens with a certain playlist or album, as well as with podcasts?

Keep us posted!

Hi,
Thank you for the swift reply.
In fact there is just one device I’m using Spotify Connect with and that’s a set of powered wireless speakers.
I emptied the Cache in Spotify, deleted and reinstalled the app al together, disabled offline playing, disabled pause less playing, things like that. I than moved on to the speakers and I did a reset to factory settings, deleted and reinstalled the speakers’ dedicated app.

Kind regards,

K

Hey there @Kiddoo11

Thanks for getting back to us and kudos for the troubleshooting you've tried so far!

Just to confirm, has this started happening after a specific event such as an update?

On another note, we'd recommend giving a different internet connection a go to see if the same happens.

If the same happens with different networks, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your iPhone to check if they can replicate this behavior with their account?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hi again,
Thx for replying!
In order for the speakers to work they need to be on the same network as the iPhone. I don’t have an alternative to my current network, unfortunately.
I have a Family Premium plan so I connected my wife’s iPhone to the speakers (indeed it’s the same network as my phone) in order to replicate the issues. What I noticed is that the track skipping after the initial 10 seconds it’s still happening but way less frequent (eg. twice in 20 tracks).

Ready to be advised further!

Kind regards,

K

Hey @Kiddoo11

Thanks for your reply.

If you don't have another WiFi, you can also try creating a hotspot on your phone and using that to test this. It'd be useful if you could try since it would help us determine if the issue is network-related.

Additionally, sending us a short screen recording of the issue happening would come in handy. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be waiting for your reply.

I’ll try with the hotspot although I’m not sure if my speakers will connect to it (phone and speakers need to be on the same network).
I’m just wondering how could a screen recording help us when there is no sound so you can’t associate the image with the skipping moment. Maybe I’m missing smth or I got it wrong?

Kind regards,

K
