My Question or Issue

I download a playlist on my Apple Watch to listen to on my runs & leave my phone at home.  I've done this for years & haven't had this issue.  My last 2 runs, the music will stop in a middle of a song, the App closes & when I reopen the app it prompts me to 'log back into my account on my phone' which I don't have with me.  It happens after I've been listening to the playlist offline without my phone for at least an hour or more.  I've deleted the Spotify app & reinstalled it.  Please help.

My Question or Issue

Anyone else having this issue?  Spotify keeps logging me out when I'm in the middle of a run without my phone & says I need my phone in order to log back in.  I download my playlist to my Apple Watch to listen to offline & don't carry my phone with me during my run.  It did it again to me this morning.  Very frustrating!  Please fix ASAP.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out. We've merged your comments here so we can better keep track of the issue you're experiencing, hope you don't mind.

Before we report this to our tech team, can you let us know if you've tried any troubleshooting steps like reinstalling the Spotify app or re-pairing your watch with the phone?

If yes, and the issue persists, let us know your device model, OS version and Spotify version (whichever you haven't already).

Keep us posted.

The same thing is happening to me.  Started the other day and has been happening every time I work out and am listening offline from my watch.  Says I have to log into the Spotify app on my phone to listen.

as soon as I get back in Bluetooth range of my phone I can open the app on the watch and play music again.

Hey @mjeffer,

Thanks for joining the conversation!

Just to confirm, did you notice this behavior after an OS or app update?

Also, make sure to try the troubleshooting suggested by @MihailY above if you haven't already, and if that doesn't do the trick, send over the info that he requested as well.

We'll be on the lookout!

Same thing happens to me. Ios and watchos 26, but the problem was there before 26. Also, when the musik is paused by removing an airpod, it will not play again after pressing play on the airpod. I have to go to the watch and select a new song.

Same thing happens to me, super annoying especially when on a long run. Never had an issue with Apple Music by the way.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times. Updated to the new watch OS. Unpaired as

well. All of these and it happened again this morning. Quite frustrating when I’m out on a long run and Spotify decides to log me out in the middle of it.

Same here except at work, really frustrating to have it cut out only an hour and a half in to my shift.

Hey there folks,

Thanks for all your replies and for the info shared.

We'd like to gather some additional info, so we can passed it on to the right team. Please send us:

  • All the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. You can start by trying those mentioned by @MihailY here.
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?
  • Does this happen regardless of the playlist you choose to download?

We understand some of you have sent us part of this info. Make sure to share the remaining details here. Be aware, we'll need this important info so we can continue investigating.

This just started happening around 1 week ago. No iPhone updates that I am aware of. Happens regardless of playlist. Usually triggered when I check my watch (ie. look at the watch face). At that point Spotify asks me to login on iPhone, which defeats the purpose of offline usage.

Watch Series 8

Watch Model: MNP83FD/A

OS Version: 9.6.3

Spotify Version: 9.0.80.1341

Same problem.  Apple Watch Ultra 1 on Watch OS 26.  iPhone 16 on iOS 26.  This happened on the previous versions as well but not before that.  I have uninstalled / reinstalled Spotify on both iPhones and Watch.  Unpaired and Re-Paired as well.  Lost count on how many times I have rebooted both.

On long runs it would logout as mentioned by others while playing a downloaded / offline playlist.  Once it logs out, you need to open Spotify on the iPhone to make it work again (also don't carry my phone during runs).  My Ultra has LTE as well.  So not sure why it cannot log back in on its own with cell connection readily available.  I use offline playlists to conserve battery primarily.  This is a very frustrating scenario. Please advise on fix.

Have this for 1-2 weeks now. Apple Watch 10, iOS 26 and watchOS 26. Today it happened after about 70 minutes into my run. Spotify version is 9.0.80.1341.

Apple Watch 10, iPhone 14, iOS/watchOS 26.

Spotify version 9.0.80.

Problem started happening 2 weeks ago before watchos26 update. It is not a consistent issue however - for example, if I disconnect bluetooth on watch/Iphone , Spotify will remain logged in for a while. It doesnt auto log me out from the watch.

Hi folks,

Thanks for flagging this and for all the info you've provided!

We've reported this to our tech folks for further investigation and will let you know as soon as we hear back from them and have any news to share. In the meantime, make sure you keep your app up-to-date across all your devices.

Cheers!

same issue as all the others, started ~2 weeks ago (don't know if it happened after any specific update). apple watch is series 8 with 11.6.1 watchOS. spotify is version 9.0.80.1341. it happens on any playlist, and I have tried uninstalling spotify, unpairing and re-pairing my watch

i have the apple watch series 7 (gps) on watchOS 11.6.1

spotify is 9.0.82

i have reinstalled spotify on both devices, powered off and powered back on both devices, and repaired my watch with my phone.

i honestly do not pay much attention to software updates, but it just started happening around a week-a week and a half ago.

it does this with every single playlist i have downloaded. no matter how big, small, etc.
