Spotify USB Connection Issues?

Hey everybody! I got a 2012 Honda Civic that came with an i-MID system, and I have Spotify premium as well, so one of the first things I wanted to do when I got the car, was hook up my phone(iPhone 5) with the Civic's superb audio system. Unfortunately the USB connection didn't work with it. It works with Bluetooth, but I couldn't get it to show track info so I gave up. Anyways, last week I was driving a friend around and he plugged his iPhone 4 into my car and played audio through the USB connection and Spotify, and the track info showed up. How come it works with an iPhone 4, but not an iPhone 5? Any ideas?
