Spotify app crashing repeatedly on iPhone. Clean reinstall ineffective.

Spotify app crashing repeatedly on iPhone. Clean reinstall ineffective.

This started happening out of the blue. I have tried doing a clean reinstall of the app twice now as outlined on the community website: https://community.spotify.com/t5/FAQs/Perform-a-clean-reinstall-of-the-app/ta-p/4746485 However, this has not fixed my problem. I am able to listen to about 30 seconds of a song before my app crashes. When I reopen it shows the song up to play but no time elapsed. It seems that when I keep the app running in the foreground of my iphone the song will play for longer, but it will inevitably crash. I don't know why I pay for premium for this.

Hey folks,

This should now be fixed, but if you happen to experience this issue again, please try the following:

  • Perform a clean reinstall of the app to make sure it's up-to-date and to remove any damaged cache that may be causing this issue.
  • Disable Background App Refresh as it can help with improving your iPhone's battery life and performance
  • Try a different internet connection
  • Log out of your account and back in twice in a row to make sure everything's synced.

Take care.

Hi Dessi,

the app closed a couple of time at the beginning as before, then it has started working properly. The app works even better, it reacts faster and it´s possible to enjoy using it again! Thanks!

I am in the same boat. 11 years on Spotify, premium, and I have been dealing with this for 2 years across 3 different phones, both Samsung and Apple. iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18, 9400 liked songs. It does not matter if it is mobile data, wifi, or offline mode, if I play anything past the first 100 liked tracks the app crashes every single time.

There is nothing more irritating than finally getting to a track I have not heard in years only for Spotify to choke and crash. I have a 20k song library on a 20 year old iPod video that still plays flawlessly. Yet a $2000 phone in 2025 cannot handle a few mp3 files because Spotify refuses to fix the problem. That is not on us, it is on them, and it is insulting that the only “solution” offered is to throw away years of library building and start fresh.
