Spotify app will not connect

Spotify app will not connect

So, on my iPhone 7 with iOS 10, the Spotify app has not been working for several months. When I tried at first, it would say 'connecting' constantly and I had waited for long periods of time for it to connect, but with no luck. I need to be connected in order to listen to my music as I have Spotify free. I tried restarting the app, restarting my phone and checking the settings, but since that didn't work, a few days ago I deleted the app so I could reinstall it. However, when I try to log on, the app tries for about a minute and then displays an error message.
