Spotify can't be downloaded onto an iWatch SE that has its own cell number

The Spotify app needs to be updated to allow for downloading directly to the new versions of iWatch that aren't paired with iPhones, such as the iWatch Se. If the watch has its own cell number it can't download apps from an iPhone, so there's no way to get Spotify onto one of these iWatches. It only downloads them on the watch itself. I talked to Apple support about it and they said that the problem is with the Spotify app.

All the other music apps allow you to download directly to the iWatch.

Since Spotify refuses to fix the issue the least they could do is update their support pages for the iWatch to acknowledge that it won't work on models that aren't connected to phones.

Hey @spitoon,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

We appreciate your feedback on the matter. Currently you'll need a phone to set up your watch.

There is a way for your feature request to be reviewed though. You can find more about the process here.

Hope this clears things a bit,

Cheers!

The problem with needing a phone to set up your watch is that the new iWatches can't connect to a phone in that way.  There's a basic lack of understanding by Spotify about how the watches work, or a lack of interest in trying to understand it.

We've cancelled our premium Spotify membership and switched to Apple Music, which allows you to download their app directly to the iWatch (all the other music services allow this except for Spotify).
