Spotify keeps on changing back to a previous playlist after *every* song

Spotify keeps on changing back to a previous playlist after *every* song

This is happening to me. As per resolved discussion.  Yes, extremely annoying.

But it occurred after I "followed" a playlist. I did not queue it.  I do have use of a laptop, but I am trying to listen at the moment through my iPad. I recognise the queue symbol  from the laptop, but can't seem to find it on the iPad. Does it exist?

As this situation was occurring, I "Un – followed " the playlist.  (It is obviously still there, as recently played).  But to no avail.

I am still a learner on the computer. LOL   It is quite possible I  overlooked something.

I have an extremely extensive playlist system. I wondered if this is the cause of it.?

I am looking towards setting up a second account, to try and resolve it. Is it likely that this is the reason it has happened? And may help ?

My iPad is  quite clogged up at the moment – I am in need of getting rid of old apps, and cleaning up. But I haven't had time to do it yet.

I haven't been able to see if the same thing is happening on the laptop.

I am a free listener.  (I presume that is not connected.)  Despite that, Spotify is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you to them.

I would be REALLY  grateful, if anybody could help me out.

Thanks ever so much, for any anticipated help.

Vonnie.

ps.   I'm afraid I don't know what you want me to put in, in the message tags or labels

Hi @vonniedreyfuss,

Please try a clean reinstall of Spotify to see if this fixes the problem - I guess it should fix this issue.

Let me know if it helps!

Hiya
Wow that was quick response. Thank you so much.

Now, this is when I get nervous.
I know how to do what I know how to do. But, when I get into new territory, it makes me anxious. LOL

So I use your link, and that will take the app off of my iPad completely. And I won't lose any of my precious playlists !!! There are very many of them.

And then I go to the App Store, bring up Spotify, and open it like I originally did ?

I suppose I do know what I'm doing. I just am anxious that I don't lose any of my material.

Incidentally, is there a level that the Spotify app can't handle ?

Right, I shall take the bull by the horns, and get on and do it.

Thank you so much. I will definitely let you know how I get on.

Oh, and another incidentally, I saw whilst I was looking for answers, that lyrics are available. I haven't bumped into that yet, surprisingly, even on the laptop. Deezer has them, but somehow I preferred Spotify. I wonder if you could point me in the right direction.

Thank you again so much for your help, I will get back to you.

Vonnie.

You're welcome @vonniedreyfuss 🙂

Don't worry about losing your playlists - this won't happen at all.

In your playlists you can add as many songs as you wish. There's an offline limit of 10,000 songs for up to 3 devices (like 3,333 each).

About the lyrics - some songs have them available in your mobile devices - not on desktop at the moment.

Good luck!

God I'm useless,,  LOL

Finally I found you.

I've been trying to respond via email, lots of times LOL

And then took ages  on the site to find your messages.

Thank you so much for your incidentally answers.

 Now what I was trying to send you was this;

Sorry to be a nuisance.
I actually don't have anyone to help me with the computer.

When I went to delete it, this message came up.

Deleting this app will also delete it data.

I presume reinstalling, will reinstate the data ?

I am going to wait for you to respond, and confirm, before I do it.
I hope you don't mind.

Thanks a million

Vonnie

I think the words are, -  anally retentive.  LOL

RIGHT,,  i'll go for it again.

So many thank yous.  I will let you know the outcome.

Where would we be, without our music to keep us sane.

##- Please type your reply above this line -##

🙂 no problem!

Well, you won't lose your playlists, but all the offline data will be deleted.

It's a pleasure to help all users here, but it's greater when we have a nice and sincere feedback like yours. Oh and speaking of like, please like my answers if you find them useful 🙂

Hiya,

- - - Well, I did say that I have got lots of playlists !! It is still downloading now, goodness knows how long it's been at it. MUCH longer than the empty version.   In fact I've just checked it now, I wrote the message in advance and copy and pasted, AND  it's still at it. Multiple exclamation marks.

I cackled to myself, "oh, you've gotten to keep your playlists then!!!! "

I'm afraid that off-line data is beyond me. But I'm gonna give it a miss, - unusually, - as I've got a very temperamental battery on my vehicle wearing me down at the moment.

I MOST definitely will be giving you a like!. It seems not anything like sensational enough, for the help you have given me.

I'm going to be very cheeky, and tell me to … Off, I won't mind, - but I have put so much work into my fantastic lists, that I would like to keep a written version, just in case Spotify disappears one day. As did Grooveshark.

I have a feeling that that is a very basic task, that I just don't know about. I am completely self-taught, on what I do know.  If it was simple, I'd love to know how to do it, but if it's complicated, one day I'll take  myself off to classes.

I really would like to be able to send you a pint, or 10, – for the help that you have given me. The pints, physically, probably isn't possible, LOL, but I would like to say thank you in some way apart from a like.

Oh God, my forte is very long messages. I do apologise.

Vonnie.

ps.  Your banner asking for a like,  said Instagram and Twitter. I'm afraid I havent got accounts for them.  Is that how we do the "like".?  Is there another way.?

I've only JUST  returned to Facebook. It used to change so much, it had me in tears.

But I seem to be getting on a BIT better, with it now.

Pps,  thank you so much for the the answers to my questions.

 I shall get counting. LOL

Silly me, I've just seen the like at the bottom of this page.  But I presume it's not so far reaching as Instagram and Twitter. Does Facebook to them.?  I'm about done in because of my van,  along with copious other things,  and I don't think I could cope with new websites.  Really sorry.

Hi,
I'm sorry it's me again.
4 or 5 hours later, and the clean install is still installing.
Surely there must be something wrong, this is not normal is it ?

Thanks for your help,
Vonnie.

Hahah, you're funny, Vonnie!

Well, it's been 5 hours since you wrote your last reply, so I'll wait for the next one to see if there is any news. But it shouldn't be taking so long... is your internet connection ok?

The "like" thing is just here, don't worry about the other websites. Click the +1 for each of my comments and you'll be helping me 🙂

Hiya Rock Star,

No, it's still struggling. Nothing has changed.

Thank you so much for getting in touch again.

I am really confused now. I am on the laptop now.

I saw on the original persons topic of this name, that somebody responded to clear the queue, by using the hamburger, as he called it. My layout is different, but the multiple horizontal lines, does respond as queue, when I hover over it.

So, 1) I happened to have a playlist up, that wasn't in use just now. And 2) I had chosen quite a few tracks and put them into a new playlist, from the followed playlist. The tracks I was hearing, I liked. So I assumed I had left the laptop on this new playlist. When a song came up I didn't like, I probably assumed rightly, that the whole playlist was in queue. So I then tapped the picture of the playing track, taking me to the playlist I was using. It brought up play queue. So I tapped the icon, repeatedly. From the comment on the past topic, he/she said tapping the hamburger, would empty the play queue. But by tapping the hamburger, I discovered that the playlist that happened to be up, had been added to the queue. So by tapping the icon, I didn't delete the queue, rather, added to it.

I do not use the queue hardly at all, and I'm pretty sure I didn't use it yesterday by accident.

But as I said in my original post, I had "followed" a Spotify/topsify playlist. - Is it possible that it gets put in the queue when you do that. I've followed artists before, but maybe never a playlist.

Either way, The icon that I thought deleted, actually added.

I've just experimented on the laptop. It's behaving exactly the same way that my iPad did. So sadly, I didn't need to get rid of the iPad Spotify app. It never crossed my mind that the laptop would be doing it too.

So, I've managed to get my brain round all that. I hope it makes sense. I'm not feeling very functional today, as I keep only getting two hours sleep a night, at the moment.

Not so bright today, but trying. LOL

As before, thank you so much for your help.

Where I am so tired, and I discovered the laptop behaving like the iPad, as I've been writing this, - it's just sunk in, that now I have no means of Spotify music. Barr, physically playing the list out. Horrendous, especially as l multiple tapped. And the original followed playlist, had a lot of music in it I don't like.

Having written all this, (dictated actually, much quicker), I now realise, perhaps all I had to ask you was, how do you get rid of the queue playlist. ?

Numpty, – but then I didn't realise it was happening on the laptop. (I assume that aforementioned response, was correct. And that is why this is occurring.)

Thank you again, and do I hope that you can help me, now, with two issues.

I think I'm so shocked, that it's happening on the laptop, that I had forgotten temporarily, about the iPad.
And to answer your question -; Yes, my Internet connection is totally as per normal
– fine and dandy.

Looks like, Deeza, here I come.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

My iPad doesn't seem to get on to well on your site.  I am having a heck of a job copying and pasting.  For some reason it comes about a lot, for me.

I just cut, on the previous message and lost it  completely.

It said,;   Sorry if this message is extra long winded. I found it very hard to gather my thoughts.   And I am adding, SO, SO LONG.

God, really sorry. Just looked at the contents of the play queue, and found it doesn't have the other extra playlist in it.  I am very confused, I don't know how I thought that it did.  Mega sorry.....

That's ok, Vonnie!

Is there anything else I can help you with?

 Yes, sorry I waffle.

How do you get rid of the queue playlist ?     Is the only way to get rid of it, to listen to it.

And,  how do I stop the Spotify app from attempting to download, on my iPad. . I presume all I can do is stop it, and try again.  I wonder if the same thing is going to happen again. Then what do I do?

To get rid of the songs in your queue, just select all of them (ctrl+A or cmd+A) and hit delete. Easy!

About the download thing; a simple reinstall will fix it. Or you can also remove the download on each playlist. There's a three dot symbol on the top right corner. Just go there and you'll see how to activate/desactivate the downloads 🙂

The queue playlist DOES still contain the original "followed" playlist in it. That mostly

I do not want to hear.

I had said,  I thought that by pressing the queue icon, I had added other material do it.

But I hadn't.    I do not understand  what the queue icon is for.

I think I have just wiped out my entire library

I HAVE.      IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN GET THEM BACK ?
