I can't change the song, spotify won't even let me connect to my phone (before uninstalling I was able to at least find my phone, now it's empty), can't see the songs, from my likes basically can't do anything on the app. This problem occured last night, before that I was able to listen to music from my watch on my airpods, didn't even need my phone for that. It's clearly an issue from the Spotify app as when I uninstall it, "playing now" from my watch at least lets me change the song...
It seems like nobody else has any problem besides "downloading songs", keep in mind I don't use that feature, be it on my iphone or watch.
I've obviously tried restarting my watch, uninstalled the app a bunch of times, turned off bluetooth on my apple watch, nothing works. Therefore, I conclude an update is in order to fix this, I don't normally keep track if an app updates on my watch, I only use it when I go out and was planning on going to the gym and listen on my watch, seems like the only solution as of right now is to go to Apple Music after like 4 years of using Spotify, that's sad.
Hi
Im not sure what you mean by Connect instead of Airplay. I got it to work somewhat. Found out a setting about ”access to network” (not sure what it is called in english since my settings are in swedish).
In conclusion.
1. When I connect the Airplay from Control center on iPhone I cant adjust the volume in the Spotify app on Apple Watch, play/paus/next works fine.
2. When I connect the Airplay through spotify app on iPhone I can adjust the volume in the spotify app on my Apple Watch.
3. When I connect the Airplay through spotify app on Apple Watch I cant adjust the volume anywhere but physically on the speakers themselfs
4. Everything works fine when I use the ”Play now” on Apple Watch.
Hey there folks,
Thanks for keeping us in the loop here!
@Datero, it's great that you've resolved the situation for yourself. Connect is a separate feature of Spotify that allows you to connect to other supported devices what are present on your local network and it can stream music on them. You can get more info about it here. Perhaps you can also describe in details, or post a screenshot / video recording of what troubleshooting you've done, so other users of the Community might try that solution as well.
@riobarrera, could you share with us what troubleshooting steps you've done so far in order for us to avoid recommending you things that you've already done. Also it'll be useful, if you share with us your devices and their firmware specifications, as well as the versions of Spotify that you have installed on them. Sending us a short video of what happens on your end would be very handy for our investigation as well.
@pazzy729, we're sorry to hear that nothing helped 'till now. We can suggest to try Apple’s steps to install as well and to check if they can make a difference for you.
Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted, we'll be on the lookout for your replies.
I’ve also already tried this earlier but it didn’t help either. Considering there are so many people with similar problems I would think the problem lies in the app itself and not in certain install/resintall actions.
I have te same problem. Nobody that I know had the same problem until I saw this post. Tried literally everything!! Deleted the app on both devices. Reset all my settings on the Apple Watch, checked both devices on updates but NOTHING seems te work. I added screenshots to show what it looks like (it is in Dutch). It says that you need to connect a device but, I tried reconnecting them but it did not solve the problem, because they are in fact already connected. Because when I click on the playlist songs I like (the only playlist that is shown in the menu) on the Apple Watch, it will play a random song but without any information like there is no song playing. Also I can not pause it or skip or whatever.
Apparently there are several others struggling with this problem. I would really like to see that Spotify solves this problem because it is very nerve wrecking and I can not find any solutions for longer than a month now. All I can find is you saying that we need to provide you more information about the problem.
Having exactly the same issue here after upgrading my Apple Watch earlier. So frustrating!
Hey folks,
Thanks for posting here.
In order to be able to investigate this further, we'll need specific information. Could you please share with us the following?
Keep us posted.
My watch is no longer able to control Spotify changing songs etc. I have unpaired my watch, repaired it, deleted the app from the watch and deleted the app from my phone. It has not worked for a number of weeks now and I do not know what else I can do
Hey there @Bronaghn,
Thanks for reaching out about this.
In this case, would you mind sending us the info @Ver asked for previously? We'd like to investigate this further.
We'll be on the lookout.
I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max currently on latest iOS 15.3 and an Apple Watch series 5 currently on latest ios 8.4.
I have tried unpairing multiple Watch and repairing, deleting the Spotify app on both phone and watch and redownloading and I have restarted both Watch and phone.
I used to be able to change songs using my watch while listening to music on my AirPods but now I cannot. All that is displayed now is “Bronagh’s Apple Watch” in the Spotify watch app
Took som videos showing when it doesn’t work. But it’s virtually impossible to upload videos here since mov-files is not supported (default videofile on iphone). Also 5 MB of video is like 3 seconds, not enough time to show anything really.
I get the volume to work this way. See attached images.
1. Start spotify
2. Click on the symbol at the lower left.
3. Select your device (mines Kök).
4. Now volume through apple watch can be adjusted in the spotify app.
If I select the crossed Airplay (se image) controlls on apple watch spotify app work except volume adjusting.
If I select Airplay through controlcenter on iphone, see image with text NO the volumen control doesn’t work.
Hi everyone,
Thank you for your replies and the troubleshooting information you've submitted.
We've reported these issues and passed on your feedback, info and screenshots to the right teams at Spotify.
Currently, we can't offer a definitive solution to the issues mentioned above. We know that it's tough to not be able to use Spotify on your watch to the fullest. Rest assured, we're aware of some instability of Spotify on Apple Watch and we'll work on improving it.
We'll keep you posted when we have more news on any development. In the meantime you're welcome to share any feedback on features which are not working as expected.
Take care.
Hi there!
I have same problem as was mentioned above.
I can’t use my apple watch as a remote control anymore. I tried to reinstall app on iphone and apple watch too, restart the apple watch and nothing worked.
Thank you in advance!
BR
I have the same issue from November. I even bought new Apple Watch SE because of it. I was afraid that Spotify does not support series 1. I have iPhone XR sw version 15.3.1 and Apple Watch SE sw verison 8.4.2. I can’t believe that solution takes so many months. I want my money back and will subscribe to another stream platform. Paying for a service that almost does not work is wasting my money. I wish you had some customer service line when I can tell my complaint. I am really annoyed and dissapointed.
I have had nothing but problems since using Spotify on my Apple watch 7. Random disconnects, inability to recognize Bluetooth devices and most of all, the ability to download directly to the watch is now gone. NOTHING works. I'm getting to the point of canceling my Spotify subscription. I only got it for use on my watch and it's now completely useless. I'm sure Apple has something to do with this. Shady company. Switching to Tesla phone if it ever comes out.
Having the same problem did the same thing and just gave up. All my other apps work but Spotify
I have the exact same issue. Spotify used to work seamlessly, but now I am unable to toggle between songs, check my playlist, or download it. There's even an issue finding and connecting to my airpods. I have tried everything from restarting both devices to unpairing and even re-installing the app.
