Still getting ads on iPhone?

Still getting ads on iPhone?

My wife subscribes to the £5 Unlimited service, and while this has got rid of the ads from the Spotify desktop app, she still gets them on her iPhone app. Is this a fault with her account? She shouldn't have to pay twice as much just to banish them from her iPhone when she listens more via her phone than her PC.

All advice welcome.

Unlimited only gives ad-free listening on a desktop and not on mobile devices for which Premium is required. There is a chart here which sets out the differences between the three tiers.

Oh, just wonderful.

What's the point in phone-users subscribing to the Unlimited service then if they're still going to get ads? How stupid. If £5 a month isn't giving her the same ad-free service she'd get on the desktop client (that she won't ever use) then she may as well unsubscribe and save £5 a month.

I wonder how much potential revenue Spotify has lost from phone and tablet users who have cancelled their Unlimited accounts because they're not getting the same service as computer users?

Welcome to Spotify's new book on how to run a profitable business, entitled "Shooting Yourself In The Foot, By Spotify"

Thanks for replying anyway.

They're no longer actively promoting Unlimited as mobile users who don't want to upgrade to permium and mostly listen on mobile devices may as well use the recently launched free spotify. I imagine this wasn't a decision taken without some serious thought about the impact on their revenue streams.

£9.99 is a bargain for access to a huge catalogue of music at 320 kbps when compared to the cost of buying a CD in my view.
