Syncing Local Files

I just recently managed to (somehow) get my local files syncing to my iPhone, but for some reason when I remove all the local files from my laptop, they still show up in the "Local Files" playlist under "Your Library".  When I try adding these songs back into My Music (the folder on my laptop), duplicates appear in the "Local Files" playlist, only some of which are playable.  Not really sure what's happening here.
