Unable to scrobble from iPhone/Ipad in spotify app

Description

Unable to Scrobble from spotfy app on iphone/ipad. I can scrobble from the officail last.fm app however. 

A more detailed description, using numbered steps

1. Cleared Safari history and cookies and data from ipad settings

2.  Uninstalled spotify

3. restarted ipad

4. reinstalled spotify app from the app store

5. Issue remains, cannot scrobble from the spotify app. 

6. Upgraded ipad to latest firmware. 7.1.1. Still experiencing the issue. 

What I expected to happen

I expect to see my scrobbles appear on last.fm when playing music from the ipad/iphone software

What actually happened

App is not tracking scrobbles.

Scrobbling is a must have for me, so I hope there is a resolution for this.

There's been an issue with the last.fm sevice for the last few days causing this See last.fm.status or this thread in their forum.
