Being as the iPhone 5 is running a much taller screen, what kind of timezone are we looking at for a Spotify update that will enable us to utilise that extra space?
Currently I still feel like I'm using my 4s 😞

Solved! Go to Solution.
The EQ in the Android being thrown in "last minute" was news to me. Yes, it was a hack day project but it's also cool as hell. Plus a hack day project would need some refining to be implimented. It's a shame that Beats Audio compatibility was a bit of an issue. We're still working on that.
But I digress. We hope to have a special iPhone 5 update in the near future.
When the last Android update came out and users found that none of the high profile requests like Landscape mode and the abiity to store the cache on an SD-card had been implemented, but an EQ and NFC sharing had, they were none too happy. There was then some furious back-pedalling from Spotify saying that the developers had been working hard on fixing bugs and hadn't had time to implement Landscape mode and SD-card functionality, and that anyway both of those two new features came from a hack day event and therefore didn't detract from the work that is being done to eventually implement Landscape and SD-card functionality which is what eveyone is asking for.
But I digress.... 🙂

I'd almost trade my iPhone 5 for a Galaxy S3 right now for the EQ function in spotify alone.
I use spotify on my IP5 several hours a day, with JH16 pro headphones, the EQ and being able to control the tonal qualaties of music is important to quite a few spotify users.
Spotify devs,
I understand the desire to not communicate too much. Really. I do dev work too. But you guys are pretty much the only high-profile media app that is un-updated at this point. I can't see how at least giving some vague information through an official channel would hurt things.
What's taking so darn long?
Way to mock a paying customer.
I simply express my frustration over the superiority of the Android application (i'd rather use it on my iPhone 5) and you label me a martyr. Referencing my post in this one and not adding a simple reply to mine just really goes to show that you're feeding the attention to those who praise your service.
As the OP mentioned, I too will be leaving this service as it's pretty clear Spotify is not the leader in paid-for music services as they fail to communicate with paying users who are looking for basic answers, i'm not asking for an immediate solution here.
You instead take my post and mark me impatient - i'm an extremely patient individually, however, I expect results if I am subscribing to a "Premium" service.
The tone of the topic, and most of the spotify community is angry, and frustrated.
You could hire a $8-10 an hour employee that does nothing but act as a liaison between the development team and the spotify community.
You have 500 people who have taken time out of their day to not only search for the "EQ" topic, but register on the forum, and then click "Kudos" on a topic.
How many more are too lazy to go through those steps... I'd wager a lot. I'd bet even more just leave the service. I've only been a premium member for a few months, but as much more of a hassle it is for me to sync the music to my iPhone and use my EQ on the phone, i'd save $10 a month, and have the sound quality I like.
Have I taken that step yet... no. But after surfing this community board for a while, It pushes me more towards that direction. If the devs, had a communication line open It'd probably push me the other way... is my $10 a month big in the grand scheme of things... no... Not at all. But i'm takikng time to voice my opinions, i'm sure i'm largely in the minority, others simply just cancel their subscirption.
Does everyone care about an EQ, not at all, does everyone care about gapless playback, not at all. Every user wants different features, but reaching out to them and answering them with intelligent, thoughful, caring posts will potentally keep their hard earned dollars in your pockets and give you the budget to stay ahead of the game.
I assure you, if Pandora, or Slacker Radio come out with an EQ. I'd jump ship instantly. I hope my $10 that I'm feeding spotify helps you come out with those features first, because you're my first choice.
Thapchild,
What audio system are you using with the Spotify service where you're looking for EQ customization? I agree, it's a basic feature that should be implemented but i'm wondering as the music is fairly compressed and wondering how much of an impact adding manual DSP to the equation creates.
I have Spotify running on an Onkyo 818 AVR with a pair of Martin Logan ESL's (stereo only) and use a DSP built into the receiver that seems to brighten the audio up a bit and of course electrostatic speakers are spot on with frequency response. The DSP is however automated.
But for the iPhone, or any phone for that matter, are you using the 3.5mm analog connection or using your digital connector?

It depends on the day. Most of the time I'm just going straight from my iPhone5 to my JH16 Pro ($1200 IEMs). Alot of people consider the JH16 one, if not the best IEM available. I have a portable amp that I'll use from time to time when I feel like lugging it around, but honestly I find that the extra device isn't worth the hassle. All of my MP3 are 320 Lame, Spotify's Extreme streaming option sounds pretty good. Yes, I can clearly tell a difference between Lossless, and Lossy.
I personally like a tad more bass, so what I'd do if they implamented an EQ, is lower the Mid slightly, highs slightly, and listen with a slighly louder main volume to keep the sound as clean as possible.
Using Spotify on my PC, Onkyo Reciever it's not really needed, I can tweak those setting how I'd like easily. It's the Mobile platform (IOS) that I'm wanting the ability to tweak/refine.
I don't think you can ask for much more than 320kbps streaming, and an EQ, aside from that, you'd have to go Lossless, or Amped.
Hi Spotify,
Paying a premium monthly subscription fee should include officially supporting the flagship iPhone model as standard. I think it's fair for us to start complaining about the lack of updates, etas and support from your end. I expect a little more diligence from a company that is meant to be a market leader in digital music distriubtion.
Cheers
Where is the update that we have all been waiting for? It's ridiculous that I've been paying £10 a month for the past year and you can't even support updates for new technology within an acceptable time period.
Most other competent application developers released updates to their applications within a few days of ios6 or the iPhone 5. Yet we're almost 2 months on and not only is there no update but there is no official word as to when it will be available?
Dear Spotify,
Nobody here truly cares when you finally ship the iOS Application. All this talk about jumping ship for a competitor is nothingness.
What we all care about is communication. If you had representatives communicating the struggles of the team, features they are working on implementing, and why it is taking as long as it is, you'd have no worthy complaints. We're not stupid -- we understand good work takes time, and we're willing to wait. That being said, as paid customers, we deserve to get a ballpark estimate as to when we could expect such an update to hit. Even something as vague as Late November - Mid December would be totally acceptable. All we're asking it that you don't ignore us. You guys are not Apple. You're too small of a company to get away with the vow of silence. Besides, even Apple gave an ETA for when iTunes 11 should be expected.
Just talk to us. Give us a timeframe to work with. If it gets delayed, we understand -- we just want an idea so we don't have to check the App Store for updates every hour.
Sincerely,
Loyal Customer
I agree with Mykbibby.
all this cancelling subscription talk is pointless. talk is cheap, actions speaks louder 😉 i too am frustrated in the lack of communications and have contemplated on cancelling but haven't done so myself so i'm as guilty as the next guy threating to cancel. i just hope enough people do it to make an impact on their revenue streams to make it visible to somebody important. one day, when something better shows up, i'll be quick to leave without hesitation, until then im stuck with spotify...i tried grooveshark, and rdio...both suck compared to this, but i'm riding on my last straw with this service....it's just a matter of something new coming along to take my $10 a month away.
I was told "soon" by an iOS dev over a month ago.

soon
adverb
1. within a short period after this or that time, event, etc.: Weshall know soon after he calls.2. before long; in the near future; at an early date: Let's leave soon.3. promptly or quickly: He came as soon as he could.4. eadily or willingly: I would as soon walk as ride.5. early in a period of time; before the time specified is muchadvanced: soon at night; soon in the evening.
What features are you drastically awating? the extra screen realistate? Honestly 95% of the time my phone is locked in my pocket while i'm listening, so why does that matter so much? The EQ won't be implamented, the "repeat" feature you've been asking for won't be implamented... updated battery life? they haven't ackwnolged that its using abusrd ammounts of battery, so I doubt that will be fixed... Not sure why you're jonsin so bad for this update.
I want the EQ added quite a bit. I'd also like to see improvements on the "radio" feature, I seem to get the same tracks over and over. the "rap" station played some old ass NWA song 4 times in 5 hours. the "emo" station played the same something corporate track 3 times in less than 2 hours. Really? Pandora and Slacker both did way better at "DJ'ing".
I might give slacker radio another go... the more I think about it...
