Whats up with the new home screen being random playlist? Its really bad, can I change it back?
Hey there folks,
Thank you for your posts and feedback.
As this thread here has become too general and has grown a bit old, going forward, we'd like to close it off and refer you to post in our new Home Feed Update feedback thread.
Cheers!
I tried speaking to someone through the text chat on the support page and they weren't able to help me with rolling back my home page or opting out of these tests. I was able to leave feedback with her but I don't fee confident that'll get far. Figured I'd vent here too.
Here it is if anyone wants to read it:
It would be preferable to be able to select what layout we want for the home screen. A large part of the frustration is the lack of agency on the customer's part, having useable features and daily mixes removed or hidden is difficult to deal with when it is replaced with a bulkier UI that offers less in terms of exploration. Being able to chose how we want our home screen to look and what content it displays would be the best solution, as any changes would not have as negative an impact on user experience when customers actually have a choice when it comes to how they curate their own home screen.
it’s terrible. Just unusable.
On my 10inch ipad it is even better, 4 albums displayed! Wow this is a good usage of space.
Hi there @suitebergamasque,
Thanks for your post.
Can you let us know which version of the Spotify iOS app you're currently running? This will help us look further into this issue.
Cheers.
This is absolutely horrific redesign.
Absolutely useless.
They moved my reccomendations to Search > For you > Scroll a uck ton to find anything.
That is the whole point of Spotify. To suggest me stuff I like.
Not to redesign Home page horrificly so it's useless.
Hello,
I have a Premium Family plan, this is based in the UK, and this issue relates to my iPhoneXS, iOS 15.6.1.
The app Homepage has changed (see attachment). Instead of the shelves featuring different subjects ("Recently Played" "Jump Back In", "Recommended for You" etcetc) It now merely has a vertical list of random Albums, Playlists, Pod casts etc that appears to have no rhyme or reason to it.
This renders my iPhone app useless. If I want to operate Spotify on my iPhone I log in via a browser, which makes a mockery of the app and also means I lose access to some valuable functions.
I have de-installed the app three times now and it always comes back the same way. If this is some sort of Beta test please remove me from this experiment and allow me back the functionality I am paying for.
Any help much appreciated.
Hey Vasil, you can read through the plethora of complaints to see the newest "test"/rollouts is regarded with antipathy and contempt. Revert back to previous UI, not this gorbage.
Also, what an absolute ten ply way to "test" a product by forcing it on your patrons and sending the message of "suck it up until we're done"
My Home Screen has completely changed. And Spotify’s team of experts thinks this is ok. Half my content is missing! Experts????
Agree completely. I was trying to find out why the Friend Activity section disappeared and didn't even think to look at the section in the bottom right.
Spotify has gotten greedy and become bloated. There are other, better ways to subscribe to music services. All you have to do to find another music service which gives good attention to it subscribers is search the words alternatives to spotify in a web browser.
@Telekiter68 At least in Germany there is a "contact us" hidden somewhere in support, but my fix only lasted a few days, I'm back to useless now. Did cancel again...
@WhyDontYouDoIt sadly Search > For you only contains mixes? I rarely listen to them. I want playlists of new songs not mixes with stuff I've listened to
This is a "temporary test" we have to endure. I guess they want to see how hard they can push us until we cancel:

@Vasil wrote:Hey folks!
Looks like you've been affected by a recent change we've made - thank you for the provided feedback!
We’re often testing possible improvements, so you or someone else may see something new or get a limited feature temporarily on the app.
How long do we have to endure this temporary test? Man it's ugly
These developers should be terminated if this is the way you want to leave the UI homepage
THE UI homepage is HORRIBLE! Why would you even approve or push out this update?? Do you want to lose all your customers?? We need answers or action! If it was up to me and this was brought to my desk I would of told you to pack your things and get out! I know how to develop apps myself and this is clearly an employee that doesn't want a job.. if you can find ONE SUBSCRIBER that approves of this I'll never message you again..😕
I agree with you! This is maybe the worst home interface that Spotify has ever had. I'm sorry for the UX Designers but that is bad. Yes, Podcasts is a trend but Spotify is a app that had in its DNA to discover music. Here, clearly, with this interface, you only want to discover podcasts. I have nothing against podcasts, I listen to them but unlike music, I don't want to discover them via Spotify. The worst thing is that what I was looking for in Spotify (discovering new tracks), it has become almost impossible or I have to scroll for 5 minutes. This interface is a total nonsense compared to what I was looking for in your application.

Understood. Where do you suggest to look for new music? So far I only actually got anything from is Weekly music on monday updates.
But to stay on topic: My fix (done by support (btw took about an hour and a half)) also lasted for only a few hours. I'm talking on support again right now...
Horrific UX decision.
Maybe they will hear us one day and actually care that the app is terrible 😕
All the new updates are horrific... I think the developers were wasted when they pushed this out..😕
This happened to me as well. I am running version 8.7.68
