iOS Playback is interrupted while driving

iOS Playback is interrupted while driving

My Question or Issue

While driving with the car the running playback is interrupted very shortly (multiple  dropouts in sequence, each < 1s) at some repeatable points where phone is switching between 5G and LTE. Recently I bought the iphone new and was previously an android user for years and didn't notice the problem with Spotify there.

The playback stops abruptly when the display changes from 5G to LTE or vice versa. Normally I would assume that Spotify has a buffer to bridge short interruptions in the connection.

I have already read that you should reinstall the app and delete the cache. I have already done that. Unfortunately, it was not successful.

Since I often use Spotify while driving, that would be an issue to send the iPhone back and stay with Android if the issue can't be resolved.

Would be grateful to get some help while it is still possible to return the phone.

Regards Andi

Hi there @AndreasDeh,

Thanks for your post here in the Community and welcome.

For starters, we'd recommend disabling any battery optimization and data-saving options from the device's settings. You can also go to Settings > Voice and Data and change from 5G Auto to 5G On to check if that makes a difference.

On another note, are you using Bluetooth or an AUX cable to listen to Spotify on your car? If you've tried both, is there any difference? Also, when you listen to Spotify directly on your mobile device using mobile data, do you experience the same behavior?

Lastly, would you mind sending a short video recording of this behavior? You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply!
