iOS: “Recently added” sort direction changes, but track order does not

My Question or Issue

I’m experiencing a sorting issue with playlists in the Spotify iOS app on my child’s supervised account.

When I open a playlist and select “Recently added”, the tracks are sorted correctly.

However, when I tap the arrow to reverse the sorting direction, the arrow changes direction, but the order of the tracks does not change. The track list remains exactly the same, even though the sorting direction indicator has changed.

Spotify version: 9.1.78.2214

Player Release: 2

The account is a supervised child account within a Premium Family plan.

I also tested the same sorting behavior on an iPhone 11, and the sorting works correctly there. This makes me wonder whether the issue is specific to the iPhone 12 mini, the Spotify app installation on this device, or possibly the combination of the supervised account and this device.

I have confirmed that I’m using the sorting option correctly:

Recently added → tap the arrow to reverse the order.

The expected behavior is that the newest tracks should appear first when the sorting direction is reversed, but the track order remains unchanged.

Is this a known issue with Spotify 9.1.78.2214 on iOS 26.5, particularly for supervised child accounts?

Are there any troubleshooting steps or workarounds I could try?

Thank you!

Hi there @cbismuth,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help you enjoy playlists to the fullest.

The first thing that stands out is that the version you mentioned isn't the latest one currently out. Could you please try updating the app? Hopefully this will be all it takes to get things running. You can also compare the versions with the one on the iPhone that doesn't have the issue and see if one is updated and the other isn't.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Joan,

Thanks for your help.

The app version is exactly the same on both iPhone devices (iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 mini): 9.1.78.2214.

Unfortunately, there is no app update available in the Apple App Store in Paris, France.

Thanks,

Christophe

Hey @cbismuth,

Thanks for checking that.

Could you also confirm whether you've tested using the managed account on both devices? We weren't able to reproduce this on our end with a regular account, so if the issue only affects the managed account and occurs across multiple phones, it'd be helpful if you could send us a short screen recording showing the behavior. We can then pass it along to the relevant team for further investigation.

In the meantime, we'd also recommend performing a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on the affected device(s). This will ensure you're running a fresh installation and can help rule out any issues related to locally stored app data.

Keep us posted!

Dear @MihailY, I was recording my kids’ phone screens, and everything is working now. I’m confused because I tested it yesterday evening on both phones. Sorry for the inconvenience.
