iOS. Spotify lock screen widget was replaced and works completely different

My Question or Issue

Spotify widget used to open the home page of the app. But today it was changed and now it just starts one of your recent playlists. Previous widget is no longer available and I cannot get it back. Updated to the last version.

I agree. Now it plays a random songs. Removed that useless widget from my lockscreen. I specifically had added it so it opens the app…

Who at Spotify thinks it was a good idea to change the action to play a random song?

Agree, please revert or allow an option to revert. This makes the widget on my Lock Screen essentially useless. I am likely already listening on my home speakers via WiFi, then when I click on the widget it disconnects and plays on my phone. Not to mention if I want to quickly access Spotify in a public setting or at work to look something up, I better have headphones or everyone around me will hear WHATEVER I was last listening to. Lol, no thank you. I’ll be removing this until it’s updated which is a shame because in its previous state it was probably my most used widget.

Thank you! Please revert it back how it used to be, or at least allow for the option. I’ve now had to delete the widget because of this new functionality, which will inevitably lead me to using Spotify less. Please send the word up that we want our old widget back!

I tried to get used to it but the thing is:

when I want to open the app I usually already know what I want to listen to and in 95% of the time your autoplay is not getting the right music and I unhappily stop it only to start the right one, which is frustrating. 

I get if you want to keep the new widget feature but please make a second widget version or option so it can function as before 😞

I like the new feature. But I think Spotify should give us 2 options. A widget to open the app. And a widget to play recommendations when it is tapped…

Yeah, it sucks so hard. Like it’d be okay if there were an option between the two, but not only do I not want it to play a random song, it also significantly slowed down the process of opening the app. I just wanna open the dang app easier, not play a random song.

Yes!! I was happily surprised a few days ago that the widget had no play button and it just opened the app. Thankfully this forum is not ignored.

hi, i was wondering did Spotify delete the widget for iOS 15?

i was trying to reinstall the widget, because it was showing as a white square for several days and then when tying to put it up again noticed that's it's not on the widget list anymore, is there any chance i can have it back?
