My Question or Issue
I’ve noticed that the UI recently had ANOTHER change where all of the playlists recommended, or created by Spotify as well as user created playlists now look ridiculous with wide spacing of the songs. There hasn’t been a change for albums as shown below. I don’t know what Spotify developers are thinking, but this is another ugly UI “update”. Please revert this back to the old style. The huge area of black space down the center of the screen and the cramped feeling of the new layout really wasn’t a beneficial change and cheapens the overall look of the app. Stop trying to fix what was never broken.

Hi, @TiredOfBS,
Apologies for the late reply!
I was able to locate the playlist and it looks like the dashed lines are actually local files the user uploaded to their playlist, most likely to use them as some sort of separator between the songs. They're greyed out/unplayable as you don't have the files on your device - they're available only on the creator's end.
Hope this clears things up. The Community is here if there's anything else you need assistance with.
Cheers 🤘
Hey @TiredOfBS,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community.
To make sure we've covered all the basics, would you mind confirming if you've already performed a clean reinstall of the app? If not, we'd recommend following the steps mentioned in this article.
Also, it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member, to see if the issue persists.
Lastly, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running on your iPad to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout for your response.
So if I open a Playlist on my Ipad in landscape view, it shows most of the songs on the left side, but some songs (particularly the local files songs) are still in the middle. It think it’s due to the design change, because before the recent updates, all the songs were in the middle.
Hi folks,
We appreciate your feedback on these changes. As for the issue with landscape mode, rest assured our tech team is currently looking into it. We'll keep you posted here as soon as we have any updates on the matter.
Cheers 🤘
I woke up this morning and I saw an interesting Spotify created playlist in the “It’s New Music Friday” banner on my home feed. What I found was this new, but related strange bug/UI change that’s slightly different from the previous one. It looks like on my device that Spotify REALLY wanted to emphasize that these are new releases. This isn’t happening on my other personally created playlists. They are still in the new wide format that I dislike and originally posted about. It appears that I’m seeing this on most of the playlists featured in that banner and also that I found elsewhere in the app. It’s not happening on the “Spotify Created for You” playlists that I quickly looked through at this time.
Your developers need to understand the primary way people use their iPads is in landscape and Apple is headed even more in that direction with the upcoming iPadOS 26 release. It’s truly horrible design that keeps getting pushed out by your company and I wish the moderators would let us know if this a bug or another new unwelcome feature as well as whether it has been rolled out to the larger community or a just few select unfortunate premium subscribers whom would really rather not be paying beta testers. If this is a bug, let us know as soon as possible. The user experience here is becoming more and more untenable each day with these changes that keep occurring.
If you feel it’s necessary to denote new music on playlists, you should create something visually pleasing like a small symbol or other small signifier. I, however, would much prefer the clean UI you used to have and not this broken up and inconsistent looking mess though. Just keep it simple.
I’ll post another reply in the comments here on another strange anomaly I’m seeing on a “Your Time Capsule playlist” that looks like it’s for another user, but that I found when I was using the search bar for my On Repeat playlist. If the mods feel like that needs a separate post and isn’t unrelated to this post, feel free to move it to another thread.
Please take a look these lines, music icon, and three dots running horizontally down the center of this playlist. What’s happening here?
@kelbrott Yeah, look at what happened today in the new comments of this thread. It’s very odd what’s going on.
@OscarDC I performed a clean reinstall and am on version number 9.0.60.632. I had someone else log into their account and the same issues persist. It’s the same on both of our accounts after the clean reinstall down to the same dotted lines and music symbol with the three dots on that one playlist that I posted in a new comment due to image number restrictions. I posted a few screen shots below so you can get an idea of what his general “non-made for you” Spotify created playlists look like. Also, this isn’t the only device experiencing these anomalies. See kekbrott’s post.
@Yordan and @OscarDC, I wanted to update you and let you know the wide and/or staggered formatting on the playlists seems to be fixed for me on version 9.0.62.672. The playlists are centered like they were previously and I MUCH prefer this UI layout on the current version. The only thing I’m still noticing are the dashed lines with the music symbol and extra 3 dots on that one playlist that I posted screenshots of previously. Thanks.
Hey @TiredOfBS,
Thank you so much for all the info you've provided and happy to hear the initial issue was resolved on your end!
We've let our tech folks know about the other one with the dashed lines so they can take a closer look and investigate this further. They just have a couple of questions to narrow down the issue, so it'd be great if you can take a look:
The Community is always here in case you need any help.
@Dessi, the dashed line bug is happening in both rotation types. It’s not my playlist, so I’m unsure if the songs are available or not. I’m including a screen capture of the playlist with the username so you can check it out on your end. This bug isn’t really affecting my daily use, it’s just another anomaly I saw and thought I would mention.
