iPod and/or iPhone won't appear in Devices

Using a mac with Spotify 0.9.0.128.g3134f863

It won't sync iPod or iPhone 4s via USB nor the iPhone over Wifi.

Won't even sync local files with iPod.

Oddly the iPod pops up for a split second and then disappears. The iPhone does not appear at all.

I have read around the forum and fiddled around with firewalls, updates, offline mode etc... but nothing seems to work - the fat that Spotify boots out the iPod after initially detecting it makes me think that this is a little more deep rooted.
