Hey there @riannaqqqq,

Thanks for the post.

Can you make sure that the Enhance button and Shuffle buttons are switched off from your phone app?

You may be experiencing the new Smart Shuffle, which would automatically add similar tracks to your playlist when enabled. To disable this click the Shuffle button twice, until it becomes grayed out.

You can differentiate between Smart Shuffle and normal Shuffle with the little star on top of the Shuffle icon.

Hope this helps.

It’s still playing songs that are not in my playlist

Hey there @riannaqqqq,

Thanks for the post.

My previous post is almost a year old. You can try this:

  • Make sure your Play Queue is cleared before playing music. You can clear it by clicking the Queue button > Clear queue. This option should be available on Desktop and Mobile.
  • Make sure that Enhance is switched off. This button will appear on top of your playlist. If it's turned on (green) it will automatically add similar songs to your playlist.
  • Make sure Smart Shuffle is turned off.

Hope this helps.

I have smart shuffle turned off and k don’t have an enhanced button (I think). Any ideas?

Hi @squeezejuice,

Thanks for the reply. On what devices does this happen? Does it affect all content or only some of it? If you could send us a video of the behaviour, that would help us a lot too. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

Keep us posted.

hi, see screen recording below. This has only started happening in the last week, previously at the end of the playlist it would just stop. Now it continues playing recommended songs. The issue isn’t with the songs you’re recommending -  I just don’t want them to be recommended at this point and I definitely don’t want them to automatically play. Enhance is not on, shuffle and smart shuffle are off. Video link below

Hey there @Proctone

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community!

We're afraid we couldn't watch the video because of security reasons. Could you give it another try? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be waiting for your reply.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

I found a way around this as it happened to me too.

Take the Shuffle at the top of the playlist OFF

Choose a song from the Playlist

Expand that Song so that it shows That song in full-screen mode

Choose the Shuffle option there bottom left

I am also facing the same problem and have tried all the steps mentioned above

Same problem. Tried troubleshooting it as suggested in this thread -- yet, all my playlists will keep playing randomly. This started today and is immensely frustrating. When is Spotify going to fix this glitch?

I’ve started experiencing the same problem as mentioned above. It’s definitely a Spotify glitch. Might have to delete my account. What a waste!

i’m also experiencing this, seems to be a general spotify glitch

Hey folks,

Thanks for all your replies and the info shared.

We understand you've followed some troubleshooting steps. Would you mind sending us the exact steps you've tried so far? That way, we can avoid repeating any steps.

Take into account, there are some feature options within the app that might add some recommendations to your playlists. We'd recommend giving a look at this post by @Alex to double-check if those features are disabled.

It's important for us to gather some additional info. Would you mind sending us the exact make/model and OS of the affected devices along with the Spotify version you're running there?

Lastly, if possible, you can also send us a video recording of what's happening on your side. You can attach the videos in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload them to YouTube or Google Drive and make them public, so we can visualize them.

Keep us in the loop!

Finally figured out how to fix this on mine.  Open Spotify on the web.  Open your playlist on your phone or device.  It will show you the playlist on the web side.  It will show  you the songs in the queue.  On the web side, select the shuffle icon down next to the song control bar.  That will fix your phone/device and only shuffle the playlist

I've tried it all.. nothing seams to work.. Any ideas?

Web, App on phone or App on Mac same issue, keeps changing to random musics regardless...

Hey there @ivanbetti,

Thanks for posting in the thread!

Just to confirm, have you checked the points mentioned by @AlejaR earlier in the thread? Also, does this only happen when connected to an Alexa device?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
