My Issue

For the last week or so, I have been seeing weird music in "recently played" on Spotify. At first, I thought it was a bug, but no just an hour ago I figured it was someone using my account when we fought for 30 minutes to play music on our respective device. So, I quickly changed the password of my account to something brand new and I "signed out everywhere". Still, the person using it isn't getting disconnected from its device (he's using the chrome webplayer apparently) and he keeps playing shitty rap. I can't listen to music and I can't disconnect this device from my account. I'm seriously considering ending my subscription if this isn't getting fixed quickly since I've been having tons of issue with Spotify lately...

Me too. However I cannot now log into my account as it has been taken over.

I cannot therefore unsubscribe from premium and I am paying for someonr else.

Spotify support are no help either via the website (no comms whatsover!) or vi Twitter ( they just send useless links and pass you back to the accounts dept. that don't respond)

This is an unacceptable level of support ( if you can call it that!)

I'm in the exact same situation..

Came here to report the same. Initially thought it was housemates using the same wifi & just connecting to mine by mistake, but it's not.

Getting really irritated by it too - constantly opening my spotify to find a recently played list of stuff i've never heard of, or fighting someone for control of what i'm playing.

It only happened after I removed all linked devices a few weeks ago

Hi,

I had this issue resolved by support. I couldn't change my password as the email address associated to my account had changed.

Firstly if you can get access to your account then change the password. That should sort it. But I couldn't do that. So after a frustrating twitter conversation and filling in the support forms on the support site, I noticed there was a facility to initiate a chat session with a real person. Why the guy on the twitter feed didn't suggest this is beyond me

Go to

https://support.spotify.com/dk/contact-spotify-anonymous/

>Logging in > I can't login > I still need help

Fill in the form there and at the bottom of the page is a button - Start a Chat

The guy I chatted to (John R) sorted my accounts issues within 30 mins.

I should have been able to reset my password myself but some how my email address had been changed so I was not getting the verification emails. Here is what he told me:

Sorry to hear you can’t log in. I think I can explain what happened.
As part of our security measures, we look for leaks at other online services and match account names with our own.
We believe the password you use for Spotify may have been compromised, following a past leak on another service. So, to secure your account, we’ve reset your password.
We recommend changing your password on other sites where you use the same details too.

He then proceeded to reset my email address and I could then regain access to my Premium account.

According to this forum there are thousands of account affected.

Hope you guys get it sorted.

I don't have the "Start a chat" button on the bottom though..Only the Send Question one.

Hi

Sorry to hear that. I have just rechecked and it is there for me. Wonder if
it is location dependent. I'm in the UK although the URL appears to be
directed to Denmark.

cheers,

had assumed since I login with facebook it was the samme password, didn't realise I had an old one set up for spotify.

have changed it now so wil keep everythong crossed it's that simple a fix!
