I have seen that many people are having this problem recently.
I have a spotify premium account. I log in with (lets just say for security purposes) x@mail.com normally. Somehow, my account has been split into 2 separate accounts: x@mail.com and just x. If I log in with x@mail.com, it is the account connect with facebook, but all my music, playlists, and friends don't show up. If I log in with just x, all my playlists are there, but it won't let me connect with facebook because x@mail.com is registered with that facebook account. If I go into the accounts page, x@mail.com is a free account, and x is my normal paid account. They are both using the x@mail.com for the contact email address.
What is going on? I've looked at others in the forum with the same issue. I didn't want to hijack their thread so I made my own.

Hi Sonjalesk,
Yes you had also created a duplicate account through Facebook, but this account has since been disabled.
When you log in with your original username you should receive your Premium subscription and playlists. As far as connecting to Facebook, please try the steps above I suggested to 'havetolovemusic'--this allows you to connect via Facebook rather than the Spotify app.
I'm not sure my "issue" is the same as Account Split in Two, however my account is accessing two different sets of data for my profile -- me and my wife.
When I log in successfully to my account with the ID and password, my wife's name and Facebook avatar show on the Spotify page in the upper right corner of the task bar (new to "Upgrade."
When I check my Spotify profile here --> https://www.spotify.com/us/account/profile/ all of the information and data is about me and it is correct.
Somewhere along the way, there must be an account connection between my Spotify account (User name johndwatt ) and my wife, Shawn's Facebook. Thanks for assisting to sort this out.
JDWatt
Hi Johndwatt,
You're experiencing a different issue here--your wife's Facebook has just been connected to your Spotify account.
You can fix this quite easily by logging into your Spotify app using your original "johndwatt" username. Then go to Edit > Preferences (in Windows) or Spotify > Preferences (in Mac) and selec t"Disconnect from Facebook" under "Social Network".
If you want to connect your own Facebook to your account, simply select "Connect to Facebook" and log in with your own details.
Hi!
My account has also been split into two.
Yesterday I got kicked out from my spotify when my friend connected to hers (I used to use her account earlier) but now I used my own Unlimited account. Anyway somehow I got a duplicate account. Earlier today I could access both accounts but now I can't. I would like to delete the new account and have my Unlimited account back.
My Unlimited account didn't work great before either because I could connect it to facebook but it didn't work properly and I can't access "What's New" on Spotify, it only goes on loading.
Can I please have some help? 🙂
Hi there,
I have changed my FB password.
And now, when I go back to my spotify account, my premium account is down and all my playlist disappeared.
But I can find them when I log on my spotify account!
how can I merge the both oh them?
Thanks
Hi Surribuppa,
You've just created a duplicate account via your Facebook.
Please log out of the app and log back in with your 'helena.hedlund' username (not your email address). You'll then be directed to your Unlimited account.
As far as the 'What's New' page, please try downloading our latest version (Mac - Win).
Im having the same problem I think. My premium subscription, starred tracks, and playlists are now gone. However I am still able to access my account on my Driod.
Hi Paulspilleriii--
You can follow the same steps, just sign in with your "paulspilleriii" username (not your email address).
You'll then be directed to your Premium account--from there you can connect to Facebook via your Preferences page.
Meredith, this does not work. I have tried doing so, but an error appears saying that the "second account" is already linked to Facebook. I have removed the app from Facebook and then tried doing it that way and it still did not work.
The best solution, that I have seen other moderators do, is to delete the "second" account that none of us ever even made...
My original account is chadatl -- I'm also looking for help! 🙂
Hi Chadatl
I've just deleted the secondary Facebook account for you. Please give it another try now--thanks.
Hi Everyone,
So the reason some of you can't cancel your secondary Facebook is that a 48 hour trial has been started.
This 48 hour Premium trial began automatically when you logged into the secondary account on your mobile device.
Once the trial ends you should be able to connect your Facebook to your original account via the Preferences page.
My account has also been split. Started when my iPhone would not login to Spotify. But, the account that needs to be deleted has username 1219698446. This account has my email address on it, so is preventing me from connecting it to Facebook (I assume since it's a duplicate). Thanks,
I am having this same issue, no matter what solution above I try, it will not allow me to link my facebook to my premium account. I have been a premium member since the invite only days, you can imagine that this is getting to be frustrating.
Same problem here - can't cancel my secondary Facebook account. If you could stop the 48 hour trial, that would be great!
Tnx
Mseanperry - It looks like you've managed to reconnect your Spotify and Facebook. Awesome. So you shouldn't be having too much trouble. Let us know if you do.
Eauxemgee - If you log in with the username 'eauxemgee', you should now be able to reconnect your Spotify and Facebook accounts.
Renskebr - If you could try logging in with the username 'renskebr' and your Spotify password, you'll access the correct account. You'll then be able to relink your Facebook and Spotify.
Zeeshanlakhari - You appear to be sorted, with your accounts linked again. Let us now if you're still having difficulty.
Hi, I had a problem with my account a few hours ago. When I tried to connect with the same application I usually connect every day, this error showed up: "sorry but we couldn't connect your spotify account with facebook".
After trying for a while to set it up, now that i'm connected all the lists that I've created are gone. What has happened? My user is hgarsan. Thks.
Hi Hgarsan,
Not to worry, your playlists are not gone. A duplicate account was created for you via your subscription page.
To sort this out, please follow the steps on this earlier thread. You can connect your original 'hgarsan' account to your Facebook via your Preferences page.
