Artist vs User profile

Solved!

Artist vs User profile

I'm an artist, but on a song I'm featured on, the link sends us to an "artist account" to my name that I didn't create, and therefore do not control... How can I or the artist link the song to my User profile, or make my user profile an artist profile, for future ref ?

Here's the song: https://open.spotify.com/track/4cZjUpnjtMMBye8ifgm4gX

And here's my user account:

https://open.spotify.com/user/11161590478

Thanks in advance

Yeah, doing that wouldn't change anything unfortunately. Spotify no longer merges artist pages with user profiles as it's no longer needed because of Spotify for Artists.

Maybe they'll improve the playlist feature in the future, but at the moment I have no information about that. Anything is possible. 🙂

Hey @PierreDanae,

Artists with over 250 followers can verify their artist page by submitting a verification request. Verification merges your artist page with a Spotify account so you can share playlists directly with your fans. You also get a blue checkmark.

Here's what to do:

1. Set up a Spotify account

You’ll need a Spotify user account to get started. If you don’t already have an account, you can create a free one by signing up with an email address here.

2. Ensure that you have 250 followers, then complete the Verification form

Once you’ve setup the account, please complete this form

To help Spotify verify the account, be ready with the following information:

  • Your artist name and the link to your artist page.
  • A link to the account you would like merged with your artist discography page. You can find this link by going to your personal user profile (the one you use to listen to music), clicking on the ellipses underneath your name and clicking “copy Spotify URI.”
  • The email address associated with your user profile.
  • The preferred display name for the profile.
  • A link to a Twitter account associated with the artist. Please note that Twitter credentials are not stored in any way.

3. Wait for Verification

Verification can take up to 4 weeks.

Thanks Maxim, really appreciate the help !

The thing is though, I don't want to get my artist page verified, I just want to be able to access it and to control it.

I did a featuring on a song, but the profile linked to it when we click on "Pierre Danae" is not my user profile, it's an artist page I do not control...

What exactly do you mean by access and control it?

Here's the artist profile to my name, I did not set it up, I guess it was automatically created when Nude put the song I featured on, so I'd like to be able to use it, add a profile picture etc...

My band (Electric Blue Waves) artist page was recently verified. I requested ACCESS from my personal account as directed. It appears that I can only create playlists on my personal page and then add to the artist page. When sharing a playlist that was added to my artist/band page to Facebook, the link directs fans back to my personal page.

In my mind, the whole point of creating and sharing playlists that are added to the artist page is to direct fans to the artist page to promote the artist. I want fans to know that the playlist was created by the band and not me personally.

I noticed the artist Parson James who is featured on the Spotify for Artists page. I checked his artist profile and then one of his playlists when selected shows that the playlist was created by himself. I can understand this in the case of a solo artist verifying his own artist account but what is the solution for bands?

Hey @EBW1,

When an artist page gets verified through Spotify for Artists, it's no longer being merged with an user profile which means that you can only feature your personal/another user's playlists on the artist page and you can't create any under your bands name if you didn't get verified through the old process.

Hello Maxim, I really appreciate your speedy reply. This problem really seems counterintuitive to the whole notion of promoting your artist via playlists. Perhaps they will change this issue in the future.

I was thinking that one work around would be to delete my personal account, setup a new account using the Band Name if possible, and then going through the GET ACCESS process again so I could manage the Artist Page from a personal band name account. I'm sure there may be issues with that idea as well.
