Can I Use My Spotify At My Cafe With Public Music Rights Engagement?

Can I Use My Spotify At My Cafe With Public Music Rights Engagement?

My Question or Issue

Hello,

Actually the question is clear. I have Spotify Premium account which I want use at my cafe. There is a foundation called "MUYAP" in my country which deals with the public music licenses. I have an agreement with them and paying great amount of money to that foundation each month to make it legal to play music at my venue. I want to use my Spotify account too but I see in your terms and conditions; Spotify is not open to commercial use. Is it valid for my case too? I already pay a lot for music licenses for commercial use. Can I use my Spotify for that case? By the way, I checked Soundtrack Your Brand, it seems totally unuseful and expensive(in terms of Turkish Liras) according to Spotify.

Thank you,

Omer Faruk Ergun

Hey there @slord236,

As you've mentioned, under Spotify's Terms and Conditions of Use, you cannot use Spotify to play music in public venues. If you're paying for rights to use Artist's music through a service, like MU-YAP, you'll need to get in touch with them about other ways of sourcing content.

As you've also mentioned, you can alternatively use Spotify's Soundtrack Your Brand as a way of streaming Spotify's library in public venues. This is the only way right now, but keep an eye on news.spotify.com and www.soundtrackyourbrand.com/content/blog for updates.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else, I'm here for you.
