Hello,
I'm trying to create a password for my Marantz NR1604 receiver and my Grammophon. They got disconnected from my Spotify account.
I understand that this happens when you login with Facebook at least once. I held off doing that for a long time, because I don't want to be dependent on Facebook for something that isn't Facebook related and I feel a little cheated that Spotify didn't mention they'd be disconnecting the devices if I used the Facebook login. So now I need to create a device password for the devices.
No problem, right. Spotify has a page for that. They send me a link in the email. I click on the link and enter my chosen password twice. My problem is that the resulting page has been showing me "An error has occurred" and suggesting that I "try again later" for the past few days. (The real error message is in Dutch, so my translation may be a little off). I have tried all kinds of passwords, thinking that there may be some rule for minimum complexity of passwords (which seems to make sense) or that some characters could not be part of the password (which makes no sense to me, but some sites do it anyway).
No matter what password I enter, all I get is that same error message.
Someone suggested elsewhere that, even though you see the error message, the device password is still created. This hasn't worked for me. But maybe the password I tested it with really doesn't satisfy Spotify's complexity requirements or contains invalid characters or whatever else. I can't see because the page always generates the same rather unhelpful error message.
This seems like a programming error that should be affecting many more people, but I haven't found any similar posts (except the one that mentions it should work, even though you see the error message).
Have any of you encountered the same thing?
Does Spotify have requirements for the device passwords that could mean my passwords are invalid?
Has anyone succesfully set a device password via the Spotify account management pages?
