We would like to try the Duo subscription for two people. If we need it too little we can always switch back to a single subscription or only once a year?

No worries, if you change your subscription to Premium Duo, you’ll be able to switch back to Premium Individual at any time. The rule for being able to switch between plans once a year only applies to switching between different Premium Duo or Premium Family plans.

You can sign up for Premium Duo here, and then invite the other member to the plan by following the steps in this support article.

If you decide that you'd like to change your plan back to Premium Individual, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Log in to spotify.com/account.
2. Under Your plan, click Change plan.
3. Select Spotify Premium.

If you do choose to switch back to Premium Individual, your plan will be updated immediately and your billing schedule will change due to the price difference between the two plans. Note that on your next billing date, the other Premium Duo member's subscription will change to the free plan.
