Changing country, but it's complicated

Solved!

Changing country, but it's complicated

Plan

Duo

Country

US to Germany

Device

Windows laptop, Android

My Question or Issue

I'm moving countries.  I'm on a Duo plan.  I read that I have to update my country, and that that requires a new form of payment issued in the new country.  However, my partner is the one being billed, and I have no plans to get a new form of payment in the new country (at least, not in the two weeks it says that I have).  Is continuing our Duo subscription even possible in two different countries?  If so, how can I update the info on my side so that I can continue using the service?  If not, would I be able to sign up on my own with my old credit card?

Hey @citrusheroine,

Thanks for reaching out!

With Spotify Premium, you can stay abroad for as long as you like, without having to change your payment info or country settings.
You can stay on the Duo plan but do keep in mind that it is for people who live under the same roof and, because of this, you might get a re-verification email at one point. If this happens and you can't re-verify, you'll be switched to the free tier.

Once on free you will be able to use the app without having to change your country settings for 14 days.
If you wish to re-subscribe to Premium Individual during this time, you will be able to do so with your usual payment method issued from your own country.

After the 14 days pass, if you're still on free, you'll need to update your country settings as shown here to continue using the app.
In case you wish to subscribe to Premium after this without having to issue a new payment method, you'd need to reach out to our folks backstage using the link here.

Hope you'll find this info helpful. We're here for you if there's anything else 🙂
